I've been taking classes here along with my son for the past few years and it's been a very rewarding experience. Sempai Fred Manzano is an excellent instructor who exercises great patience with the younger kids, while still challenging everyone to be their best. Like anything, you get what you put into this, so being present and consistent with classes is key to development and Sempai Manzano is great at following up if you are absent or need additional time and instruction. If you're an adult looking to dive into karate or if you're looking for an outlet that will develop skill, discipline and self-defense for your kids, Okamoto's is a great place to start.

My two boys and I have attended classes for about 2 years. The instructors are very friendly and tailor their teaching to the age and developmental level of the student. As a child psychiatrist I value the fact that in addition to learning self defense my kids are learning the importance of respect, discipline and self control. I frequently encourage parents of my patients to consider enrolling their kids in martial arts.

Our 4 year old has shown improvement in his participation and enthusiasm since he started Tiny Tigers a few months ago. The instructors are patient and take time to coach the individual students at their understanding level and Senpai Fred keeps the room energized and organized during classes. I was most impressed that they talk about the importance of using words before resorting to physical measures and they teach practical anti-bullying techniques. I would definitely recommend the Tiny Tigers program and look forward to our son experiencing other class levels as he progresses!!

My 4 yo son has been attending classes here at the ER dojo for a year now and we absolutely love it! We have noticed how much the classes have helped him with his character and maturity level. Senpai Fred has been amazing and very patient with all the kids but at the same time, he is firm and makes sure that they learn self control, discipline and respect. Highly recommend this dojo and Senpai Fred!

We enrolled our 4 year old daughter in tiny tigers and were very impressed with the format for young children. The children are sent home with “house rules” and immediately encouraged to learn the basic routines of karate while also reviewing what they need to accomplish to achieve the next level of belt. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child as well. We would enroll our daughter again and highly recommend Okamoto’s!
