A fantastic school. The people here are just as tough as they are friendly (which is *very* on both counts). I learned a ton here, they helpfully dismantled my game I arrived with (via their skill) and then constructively improved my BJJ (especially my No Gi). Met some excellent people here with a great sense of community and humor. If you are in the area, check this place out!

Best gym on the Peninsula (I’d say all of Alaska, but I might be biased.) Great family friendly environment. Plenty of women to train with if you’re a woman and don’t feel comfortable rolling with guys. But everyone there is friendly and chill. No fee for drop-in’s. You can train for a week for free to see if the gym is a good fit for you. Ran by two black belts, and there are plenty of color belts with experience to help with your training.

I've traveled a lot for my job, as well as just in general, and have to say that Isaac's gym is easily one of the best that I've encountered. It is in a larger, warehouse-style building located near Save-U-More. It could be a bit difficult to find, but if you look for the giant red sign, you can't really miss it. I was in Kenai for a couple of weeks, and attended the BJJ class 4 times. Isaac is a great teacher, and explains thing very clearly. The classes tend to run on the larger side, I would estimate towards 30ish people. Isaac was able to pretty reliably provide instruction to any of the pairs needing assistance during drills, which is great. Most importantly, the gym didn't smell and seemed to be very clean. Overall, the gym has a very laid-back vibe, and every student there was very relaxed and felt safe to roll with. I will absolutely go back there again next time I'm in the area.
