About

The Alaska Club East Gym & Pool in Anchorage offers MMA and kickboxing training alongside a range of amenities including a pool, child center, tanning rooms, jacuzzis, and a planned Nordic spa. The gym provides a family-friendly environment where members frequently describe being welcomed warmly, with specific staff members like Lauryn and Terri-anne receiving praise for their helpful and upbeat service during childcare and events. The child center, though noted as compact, is well-equipped with age-appropriate toys, slides, and a ball pit, making it a valued perk for parents who can utilize childcare while working out.

reviewsWhat Members Say

Members frequently praise the gym's welcoming, family-like atmosphere and specifically highlight staff members like Lauryn and Terri-anne for their helpful, upbeat service in childcare. However, many express significant frustration with the high membership cost, describing facilities as mediocre, outdated, or sometimes dirty, with broken amenities like jacuzzis and delayed openings for promised features like the Nordic spa. Several reviews mention negative experiences with front desk staff, including reports of rudeness, confusion over guest policies for minors, and operational issues like malfunctioning scanners. While the supportive environment and childcare are consistently valued, the overall value proposition is questioned due to maintenance concerns and premium pricing.

Every time I come into this gym I am welcomed like a family member. I had my sons 1st birthday party here in their child center. Though it is on the smaller side, its perfect for little kids. With a ball pit, slides, and plenty of age appropriate toys. The women that helped us were Lauryn & Terri-anne, they were so helpful and had everything ready before I even had to ask. Such a great experience, and a fantastic perk to have child care while working out as well. The ladies that work there are so upbeat and always put a smile on my face. Thank you AK Club!

I really want to love this club because of its proximity to my house and the “amenities” offered but the price is absolutely incongruent with the quality at this club. The tanning rooms are filthy (I had to complain to 3 different people including the facilities manager to get it vacuumed), the locker rooms are often dirty and with no clean towels, the jacuzzis have both been broken for almost 3 weeks with no estimated time of reopening, and the Nordic spa (which we were told would be open by Jan 1) now has no estimated opening date. Every time I speak to someone at the front they say “we’re sorry for this inconvenience” and offer no other solutions. Very disappointed with this gym for the premium we pay.

The worst. Just brought my kids to this east club .. this is the first time we are using free pass. I ask the front desk and they said only for 18 yrs old and above, I remember that that if it's minor then needs parental waiver which I already signed that when we did our membership. They ask me to pay $ 35. I tried to tell them what I understand and won't show me anything about that rule .. well you enjoy that $35 !! guess that's its subtle way of making money •

Alaska club is a joke. You would think for the price ur getting the most premium gym ever with the best equipment known to man but its all so mediocre. dirty sometimes. outdated. has absolutely no character. the staff is great. the actual gym is intolerable for the price. demo everything and start over i know you have the money to do so. compared to other gyms in anchorage, alaska club is actually inexcusable. im hating so much because why is it so expensive and you get the most mid gym ever.. do something about this. nordic spa better be the best thing ever. i swear if nordic spa makes the money worth it then ill shut up but its probably not gonna open until 2030. just keeping it real. but no actually if you can hear me its either you lower the price or im gonna keep calling you out on all ur flaws and trust me you have a TON.

The fromt desk staff was EXTREMELY RUDE!! I signed in as a returning guest on the iPad to bring my kid to a swimming lesson then was told I had to scan my card. The scanner didn't even work and the lady had to type it in the computer. After telling her how to spell the last name she looked at me like I was the stupid one. Then she didn't even bother trying to spell my kids first name. If you hire people you should make sure they know how to spell. At other clubs they are respectful and have better customer service. The east club should do the same. Especially whrn it's as simple as bringing in a kid for a swimming lesson. The customer service desk staff was as rude as the people a the alaska club for women were when I told them I was old enough to be at tht location.
