I knew nothing about boxing before my first class which was box+. Duan took the time to go over the fundamentals with me and made sure I had the proper form. I didn't feel out of place and was welcomed. I had a great workout and I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the next class.

I was a member at The Pound until it was time for my knee replacements. I'm a 67 yr old retired USA Master's Boxer, personal trainer, and coach. I loved going to The Pound because I could train and do my own thing without being bothered by anybody. I've watched the trainers and even took some sessions with Duane along with a couple of classes. You can pretty much be at any level, and it's a great gym and atmosphere. Watching Duane MANY times with clients would NEVER yell or belittle anybody! I have a ton of experience with clients of all types. Being semi retired, trust me that I know how to work with people of ALL types. From disabled to athletic competitive athletes. Duane is a very good trainer and is patient with his members/clients. AND when I recover from knee replacements: "I'LL BE BACK"

I see some reviews that have given the gym 1 star and I believe these are personal attacks from bitter people or competitors. The gym is immaculate. Please see the pictures I provided or stop in and see for yourself. I think they have several world champion trainers and the facility is the nicest gym I have seen in Scottsdale. The classes are busy but not over packed and the instructors really know what they are doing. I wouldn't believe people who leave one star reviews for almost every business they review, seems like hate speech to me! Enjoy The Pound!

Just renewed my membership after trying out one month - having an absolute blast. I was looking for something to boost my cardiac health, work hand-eye coordination and balance, and sharpen agility/reflexes. Boxing fits that bill, but I'm not interested in contact sparring. I thought that would be a barrier to me giving it a try, but that's no issue here. Duane's sessions are a perfect blend of boxing fundamentals, agility drills, bag/mitt work, and everything between. Plus, it's just a good old fashioned killer workout. My shoulders are getting stronger, my cardio endurance is increasing, and I learn new things every session. Couldn't have asked for a better coach (Maddie's classes are a hit too!) with a straight forward, no bull approach that still meets anyone where they're at. No session is the same, but each one bleeds into the other. All the other members are fantastic too, always ready to give pointers and tips. All I can say is I walk away from every session sweaty, in a great mood, and actively thinking of the ways I can be better the next time I walk in. What else could you ask for?

Duane's a great trainer and you can tell he's got a lot of experience with people of all skill levels. He helped correct some bad habits I had that a trainer with less experience probably wouldn't catch. I used to train at Iron Gloves in Tempe for some years and although this is a different type of membership that he has set up, he's flexible with your schedule if you talk to him. My work/travel schedule is a bit hectic so I won't be going anymore, but I did want to take the time to leave a good review for anyone considering going here. The only recommendation I'd have is to confirm up to date pricing, online schedules, and cancellation/pause policies since I was never made aware of certain things when signing up, but you are required to give a notice for both. Overall good experience!
