Alonzo Martial Arts

Our two boys have been training under Master Alonzo since 2017 at his Santa Monica location. Over the years, through online lessons, outdoor sessions, and location changes, Master Alonzo has consistently conducted engaging, effective classes, helping our boys progress to red-black belt. We deeply appreciate his dedication, discipline, and the respect he models for his students. During the summer, Alonzo Martial Arts runs an exceptional Anti-Bullying Camp, where kids not only learn self-defense but also gain confidence, self-assertion, and strategies to stand up to bullying in a safe, supportive environment. Master Alonzo’s guidance goes beyond martial arts—he shapes character, resilience, and respect in every student. We feel fortunate to have learned under him, as his guidance has had a profoundly positive impact on our boy's upbringing.

Alonzo Martial Arts is amazing for all ages. Our toddler Ryder loves each class and loves Master Alonzo. His Mommy & Me program is wonderful. He creates engaging activities, builds gross motor skills, creates a safe and loving environment, and teachers our son how to increase his focus, resilience, and determination. What a wonderful program for a 3 year old. I've watched the class for 3.5+ and it also looks amazing.

Alonzo is an amazing teacher — incredibly patient, caring, and deeply committed to every student’s growth. He brings together different martial arts styles in a coherent and meaningful way, making classes both engaging and effective. He has a real gift for working with kids — encouraging them to focus and give their best without ever making it intimidating. The atmosphere is positive, respectful, and grounded — none of that macho or aggressive vibe you sometimes find elsewhere. It’s serious and sincere training, but always welcoming and fun. You can tell Alonzo truly loves what he does and genuinely cares about his students. A wonderful space for kids and adults alike to grow in skill, confidence, and character. Highly recommended!

My 3.5 year old has been coming here for almost a year and I truly don’t understand how patient Master Alonzo is with my kid, let alone a class full of kids her age. He was born to teach kids and is genuinely a warm soul.
