My wife and I have trained at 4 different gyms over the years as our primary training gym and dozens more around the US dropping in while traveling and there is just something different about Pedigo. At most schools the instructor is just that, someone who shows you how to do moves, however Derek who is the Head Coach at PSF LA is much more than that as he embodies what it is to be a coach. Someone who gives instruction, but also will be in your corner for competitions, both local and international and supporting you the Pedigo way. The training at this gym is always fun, but will also test your grit if you want to compete. There are people of all ages with World Champs and medalists across divisions from Adult to men in their 60s, all are welcome here. I can with certainty say that my life is different having joined this gym and can't see myself competing or representing a different team. The environment is like no other. Derek is the first Black Belt World Champ of Heath Pedigo and his technical ability is top notch in gi, nogi, and wrestling. Do yourself a favor and come train and go to a tournament with the team and you'll be hooked. I think this quote from Heath sums up why you should give Pedigo a chance. "I feel sorry for people on teams who don't get to feel what being a part of a real team feels like. Most will never even know that they aren't on one. Everybody matters. Treat everyone the same and this is what happens." -Heath Pedigo

Hands down the best place there is! I joined the gym earlier this year and had absolutely 0 experience or any sort of training background. I was very nervous and shy but once I went in I was immediately put at ease. Our coach Derek is amazing, kind, and very patient. The other teammates are also great and the upper belts help out in extreme detail. The parking is also convenient and the area is very chill. If you’ve been searching for a gym to join I recommend you stop because this is the one.

Was in town the other night and got to train with Derek and Genesis. Very knowledgeable! Derek helped me out a lot with the stuff I’ve been hammering down for my competitions. They were very nice and very helpful. Got some good rolls in as well

I had an incredible experience training at Pedigo Submission Fighting in Hawthorne. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and supportive. Derek, the head instructor, is not only a world-class coach, but also a genuinely great person who takes the time to connect with every student and visitor. You can tell the culture here is all about elevating everyone on the mats, whether you’re a seasoned grappler or just dropping in for the first time. One of the coolest parts? No drop-in fee for visitors. That kind of hospitality speaks volumes about the team and the community they’ve built. Everyone I trained with was respectful, skilled, and just cool to be around. Whether you’re in town for work or just passing through, this is hands down one of the best jiu-jitsu gyms in Los Angeles to train at. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in SoCal. Thanks again to Derek and the crew for making it such a memorable visit.
