I met the Kovar's Martial Arts team at a neighborhood event and my daughter who was 3 years old at the time broke the karate board and really enjoyed it. We agreed to try out a free class followed by a free 1 week trial if she loves it. We booked it with Joel right on the spot. When we took our daughter to the free class on our booked date we met with Joel again and met a few other staff members and then the class started and our daughter did great and really enjoyed herself. We signed up right away. They have different enrollment packages for everyone, and they really work with you and your family to get you prepared for what to expect and how the classes will work and function. After signing up almost a year ago now we have never looked back and our daughter still loves it and has grown so much in her time at Kovar's. I highly recommend this for anyone with a kid ages 3 and up. I see the older kids too and they all look like they enjoy themselves. It is like a family and everyone is very friendly.

We started at kovars for my 7 year old daughter in May and we love the place. The instructors are all lovely people that really care about the kids. Even though there are a lot of kids at times in class I feel that they always take time to say hi and make sure all the kids are learning at their pace

My son started here at Kovar’s a few months ago. He absolutely loves coming to class. Every instructor is professional and extremely good with the toddlers/preschool age kids in his class (who are significantly harder to coach well and maintain patience with compared to school aged children) I taught competitive sports for well over 14 years at a high level. Worked with Olympian’s and the coaches who coached them. Take my word for it - the instructors here are excellent. Caswell has been teaching since I was a child (in fact, he was my instructor) The very few times I have had to defend myself in the real world, I won the fights in devastating fashion and my aggressors honestly had no idea what happened to them. From correct striking to discipline and routine, kovars is worth every penny.

Over the years, we tried 3 other dojos. This one felt like home as soon as we walked in. Total of 3 kids from ages 4-8 have or currently going through the program. A great blend of learning combat and social skills, we also love how all of the instructors grew up in the program.

Kovar’s Martial Arts is hands down one of the best decisions we’ve made. From day one, the instructors have been welcoming, professional, and genuinely invested in each student’s growth, not just in martial arts, but in confidence, discipline, and respect. The instructors are patient, motivating, and amazing at working with kids of all skill levels. They strike the perfect balance between structure and fun, so students stay engaged while still being challenged. You can tell they truly care about helping each student succeed, both on and off the mat. The environment is positive, encouraging, and family-friendly. Classes are well organized, the facility is clean, and communication is clear and consistent. It’s more than just a martial arts school, it feels like a supportive community that builds strong kids and confident leaders. If you’re looking for a place that teaches self-defense, discipline, confidence, and respect in a way that kids actually love, Kovar’s Martial Arts is it. Highly recommend!
