Kovar's Satori Academy of Martial Arts - Waterman

We started our 12 year old son at Kovars in Elk Grove this past December at the Waterman location, and the difference in just three months has been incredible. Our son is autistic and struggles with confidence, so we’ve tried a lot of activities over the years like soccer and swimming, but nothing ever really stuck. This is the first place he genuinely looks forward to going. He attends two to three times a week and I no longer have to drag him or convince him to participate. The instructors here are patient, compassionate, and truly care about the kids. Because of them, he has started making friends and building confidence in a way we haven’t seen before. He even sleeps better on karate nights and is always excited and prepared when he knows it’s time to go. Seeing his growth in such a short time has meant everything to our family. I can’t recommend this facility and these teachers enough. If you are considering karate for your child, especially one who needs a little extra support and encouragement, Kovars Waterman is an amazing place to be.

Kovar's on Waterman has been an amazing experience for my neurodivergent 7-year-old. It is truly an inclusive and supportive space for kids. The staff are wonderful - funny, engaging and full of positive reinforcement. Our son leaves every class feeling empowered and really good about himself. We love not only the martial arts training but also all the discussions on life skills, like how to show respect to your friends and family, how to handle a situation with a bully, etc. The camp/movie nights have been wonderful so that us parents can actually go out on dates again! Really enjoy the group birthday celebrations too. Thanks for being a wonderful space for families in our community!

Our son Kayden has been going to Kovars for a little over 10 weeks and just got his yellow belt. I cannot recommend the program at Kovars enough! Kayden is high functioning autistic, and has done swimming and kickboxing in the past, but he has NEVER been as determined or as focused as he is in this class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any parent looking for a good educational and respectful sport. All of the staff are extremely attentive and work well with the kids. Also, every 5 weeks they focus on a different “life skill” including how to deal with bullies and standing up for yourself and even to your friends. Second also, they do monthly kids Saturday night events that are PERFECT for a family like ours who don’t have any family locally (aka Date night!) 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

My daughter has been coming here for over a year, and she loves every second of her time here. The instructors are engaging and welcoming from day 1 and I’ve seen my daughters confidence grow substantially from the start.

My son loves coming here. He is very comfortable with all of the staff and students around him. He learns so much including important lifelong lessons that apply to everyday life. If your looking for something for your kids to enjoy and also learn defense and self-discipline, come check this place out. This place has totally improved my sins confidence and social skills.
