Woodland Jiu Jitsu Academy

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My main gym is elsewhere, but I train at Woodland Jiu-Jitsu Academy at least once a week and it is consistently excellent. Under the new ownership and Cassio Werneck affiliation, the instruction is serious, technical, and very well structured. Come ready to work, these classes are demanding in the best way. Huge credit to the crew that makes it run smoothly, especially owner Bill McInerney and Professor Julian Flowers. Julian’s teaching is sharp and detailed, and the room has real competitive talent. Shout outs as well to Coach Lizette, Coach Rodrigo, Coach Tracey, Coach David, Coach Hans, and Coach Jolene for keeping the culture welcoming while still holding a high standard. Brand new facility feel, clean mats, updated equipment, and a packed schedule with adult, women’s, and kids classes. All ages and experience levels are welcome, and you will get better here if you show up consistently.

Student here. Our black belt Professor, Julian, is awesome. The owner is also very involved with the community. When my sons are old enough I’ll also bring them to train at WJJA.

I was visiting Woodland for a week, and was lucky enough to get to train at this amazing school. The facility is clean, the mats are high quality. The instructor is a world-class BJJ expert, kind, patient, professional, and runs a fun, challenging, and interesting class. Students are respectful, dedicated, and great training partners. At any level of BJJ, from beginner to advanced, gi or no-gi, if you want to learn more about BJJ, or get in better shape, you should train here.

Absolutely love the professional environment and how much the instructors pay special attention to each individual (and there is a wide range of skill levels attending.) I am very new to jiu jitsu and every class I gain so much and have felt the progression! If you're looking for a super welcoming, challenging, and detail oriented academy, this is the place to go!
