reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise Head Coach Ruben Rowell Jr. (often called Ajahn Ruben) as an exceptional teacher and mentor who blends authentic Muay Thai training with personal development coaching. Reviewers describe a welcoming community where students are respectful and supportive, with many noting the gym's positive impact on confidence and self improvement for both children and adults. Several mention the training helps with real world challenges like bullying while developing martial arts skills. One critical review mentions occasional space limitations requiring outdoor training and describes some interpersonal dynamics as potentially immature or hostile, particularly toward women, though this appears isolated among overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Coming to Extreme power gym has been such a fulfilling experience. I moved to the area recently and was hopeful to find a good gym, what I found at Extreme Power is a not just a gym but a school, a teacher of true Muay Thai, a community of students who are welcoming and kind and present as true martial artist. I love seeing younger students learning this art. Ahjan Rueben is everything I want in a teacher/instructor. At extreme power gym, I’ve noticed that it’s not about fighting it’s about self development. If you’re looking for good training, you find it here, if you’re looking for good sparring, you’ll find it here. His students are all well trained and respectful, and that is the number one sign of a place you’ll want to be a part of. Extreme Power and Ahjan Rueben check all the right boxes for a solid environment to develop.

Extreme Power Gym is exactly that, extreme with focus on power of the mind, body and spirit. Not only is Ajahn Ruben Rowell the highest level master teacher, he is also a mentor and someone who cares deeply about his students. Between the authentic Thai training and phenomenal community this school has, there’s no other place that offers an experience like this one! Highly recommended for all levels, shapes and sizes. Soot Yord Palung is for everyone looking to level up!

I trained at gym Ajahn years ago while stationed on Camp Pendleton. His teaching style is a mix of coaching and mentor guiding you to become a better fighter and person. Check out his gym you won’t regret it!

I brought my son here when he was turning age 4 after searching different places. My son has a brain disorder, but Muay Thai really helped enhance that. EPG helped with his confidence, with him being sure of his self when the bullies persist. Ajahn has a way of teaching the kids and parents at the same time, you can be watching and thinking his words are for you too. It’s an atmosphere of grit yet grace pain yet purpose. Every student has their own story and I’ve had the privilege of training and having all three of my kids train. Whether we are in EPG or at home. Muay Thai is part of life. So much more to say from, working media for a few years and just the eye opening experience seeing behind the curtain and the process of it all to podcasting with Ajahn. EPG has been a great place and Ajahn is a great Man. 👊🏾🙏🏾

This gym is okay. The building is small, sometimes people have to train outside. Half the class is technique, conditioning and then its Facebook sounding motivational lectures (listen to his podcasts) People can act friendly, but insecure members are petty, defensive, and quick to start smear campaigns, especially toward women. If you like that kind of stuff, you'll fit right in! It can be an immature and hostile environment. I don't recommend it.
