Japan Karate - San Diego Dojo

After looking for the perfect dojo we came across Sensei Shery & Alana they are the sweetest and after two years my son still enjoys coming to class, this has helped him so much. All students, parents are caring, help each other out. I love and recommend to any new comers the only regret you’ll have is not signing yourself and your child. 🥰🥰

My son has been a student of Sensei Sherry since February, and the transformation we’ve witnessed in him has been remarkable. In just over half a year, not only has he progressed to a black yellow belt, soon to be an orange belt, but the change in his overall behavior and attitude towards life is astounding. Karate, under Sensei Sherry and Sensei Alanna’s guidance, has brought a significant shift in him. He used to struggle with distraction and rudeness, showing little care or interest in his surroundings. Now, he has learned to discipline himself and focus with remarkable intensity. This change, we believe, is largely due to Sensei Sherry’s influence. My son describes her as more than just a karate instructor – she’s a life teacher. She has taught him the importance of focus, the value of hard work, and the discipline required to form successful habits. Our family recently moved to Poway, which means an hour commute to and from the dojo. Despite the distance, we haven’t considered finding a closer club. The reason is simple: Sensei Sherry is unparalleled in her teaching and impact. My son’s love and respect for her, coupled with the positive changes we’ve seen in him, make every mile traveled utterly worth it.

We have had such a wonderful experience here. My son is newer to the group but was immediately welcomed by all! He is 8 years old and just started to learn Karate this year. Both Sensei Sherry and Alana have great energy and wisdom! They have patience with each student and make sure to teach quality Karate. I recommend to all my friends and family!

Shito-ryū (JKA) is the best kárate option to improve your mind, your spirit, your footwork, etc, etc. The way Sensei Sherry teaches is the best for a true karateka, as she teaches Kumite techniques, how to strike, kick, and block properly. And remember, believe that you can achieve what you've always dreamed of (whether it's becoming a professional athlete, a philosopher, a sensei, or anything else) as long as you work hard, because karate isn't just a martial art, it's a way of life 🥋🇲🇽

My son has been attending this dojo for a few months now & we love it! We tried a few places around Point Loma but this is the best one hands down! I am so glad to have found such a welcoming place. Sensei Sherry is the perfect blend of tough and kind, she believes in the kids and makes everyone work their hardest. This is a great place if you want your child to excel in traditional Japanese karate. I look forward to watching my child grow here.
