If you are looking for the most efficient place to train and learn judo in socal, look no further. I started training judo a little later in life at 26, compared to most other people. I have been consistently training here for over 15 months now so i feel qualified to leave a review. If you train hard here you will improve no questions about it. Age does not matter, young or old, it is a good atmosphere for anyone. I will admit I may be a bit biased but you want my review, no? Koji sensei offers high quality judo training with a big focus on the two main principles of judo: maximum efficiency and mutual benefit. This is one of the few quality judo places here in SD that is dedicated to teaching traditional Japanese judo full time. Koji sensei places safety and good technique first. He creates a challenging, yet fun and respectful atmosphere conducive for proper judo learning. Come here for solid community, effective training, and great people. 11/10 would recommend. My son moved to Kamikaze Judo early this year when he wanted to get more serious about his judo. He goes to classes almost every day and really loves it. The primary sensei is Japanese, very devoted to judo and really supports his students. My son speaks with him in Japanese sometimes, but the sensei has lived here a long time and his English is great, so you get the best of both worlds. There are both kids classes and adult classes and the dojo is conveniently located with a decent amount of parking during class hours. There are classes almost every day, so this dojo is a great fit for anyone who wants to get serious about martial arts and/or get a great workout multiple times per week.

I had the privilege to be taken into the family here. The sensei is very humble and sincere and will guide you just like a father would. He and his students have many gold medals and have a passion for Judo. The scent, design, and sensei of the place, all come together to provide an authentic Japanese Judo education. I felt like I was in an upcoming champion story. I would keep coming, only that I am putting my full focus on becoming a monk right now, but I wish all the luck and prayers for this place. Thank you 🙏❤️

I’ve been coming to this dojo for 2 months and wow what an impact it has made on my standing self defense, ground game and overall conditioning. I’ve been studying BJJ for about a year and Judo has complimented my BJJ game immensely! Sensei Koji is one of the best teachers I have learned from, he is patient and his teaching methods are excellent. He teaches the most authentic Japanese Judo in the area. It’s a fun experience and I couldn’t recommend it enough, great for beginners and experts alike. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey for years to come. Thank you Sensei Koji!

If you’re looking for a no judgement, legit, Japanese Judo place to drop in this is it! Happy I found Kamikaze and was welcomed in even as an “old” guy with no big fame competition potential, I’m in this for longevity, and having a place that is welcoming is important. Everyone here has the fighters heart without arrogance or judgement, and ownership of mistakes with care for their partners. Amazing place for Judo where I am always welcome back even as a “late starter in life.” I have to juggle many responsibilities and even though I am always happy to train and see everyone again.
