SDBJJ is truly a remarkable place for personal growth, learning, and community. My son has been a part of this incredible journey for about five years, and his recent participation in the belt ceremony was a testament to what makes this academy so special. The event exemplified everything SDBJJ stands for —celebrating accomplishments, uplifting one another, and fostering a supportive, family-like atmosphere. This isn't just a training facility; it's a community that stands by you during achievements and challenges alike. Jiu-Jitsu training at SDBJJ goes far beyond the mats. It instills the invaluable qualities of mental and physical strength, discipline, and resilience—key building blocks for leading a fulfilled life. The training enhances mental agility, teaching students how to adapt effectively to change, and it places a high emphasis on a strong work ethic. These are all key attributes that extend well beyond the sport itself and empower students in every aspect of their lives. None of this would be possible without the leadership of the extraordinary owners of SDBJJ, Wes and Tyler . Their passion for the sport, for teaching, and mentoring radiates through everything they do. They bring their individual strengths to the table, creating an unbeatable synergy that inspires everyone to reach for their fullest potential. Their passion and commitment to teaching the next generation, is not only admirable but also genuinely infectious. They lead by example, imparting lessons about character, dedication, and perseverance that leave a lasting impact on every student. SDBJJ is far more than just a martial arts academy—it’s a place where students of all ages grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. It’s a space where success is celebrated, struggles are supported, and life-changing lessons are learned. For anyone considering Jiu-Jitsu, especially for their children, SDBJJ offers not just training, but a community and a pathway to becoming the best version of oneself. Senseis Wes and Tyler have built something truly extraordinary, and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Best BJJ gym around. My kids were at another gym in escondido previously and the difference is night and day. They track their progress with a card that checks off the moves they have down and actually progresses them along instead of being at the same rank they had been for the last 6 months at the other gym. I also started adult classes and everyone is friendly, helpful and no other gym that I know of has a 4am class like they do. Nice way to get the day started.

My daughter started at SDBJJ when she was about 5 and loved it but unfortunately due to Covid we had to stop going to classes. Last year we decided to reintroduce my daughter to Jiu Jitsu and just like when she was 5 the coaches, staff and other students were all very welcoming and friendly. One thing did change in the time we were gone; they added a parents class where you can train Jiu Jitsu while you kids are training in a different area of the gym. This peaked my interest and after trying a trial class where I met coach Jason; I decided that I wanted to sign up. It's been almost a year and my daughter and I have both grown in our knowledge of Jiu Jitsu and it has also helped build our relationship of father and daughter. This time around my daughter has also picked up striking classes (boxing) and on Tuesday and Thursdays they recently added kids Muay Thai and my daughter loves it! The parents class is great each day is a different coach; which adds a different perspective to the topic of the week. I feel like this has really helped in my development because I'm able to decide which style works best for my game. The classes are very convenient too, I enjoy the Sunrise Submissions class with Coach Fish and AJ a lot ; it starts at 4:45am so on my days off I can get in and I have the rest of the day to take care of life. Others take advantage of this class because they can go before work (my work schedule starts before the class does unfortunately). The gym frequently host seminars as well, I made it to the Chris Bones seminar and it was an amazing experience. I really can't say enough good about this gym; the community they've built here is amazing. My daughter and I have made friendships over the last year here that I could see lasting a lifetime. I highly recommend San Diego Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to anyone who is looking for a great community in the mix martial arts world.

Looking for a school dedicated with great program tailored for kids through adults their low student to teacher ratio allow work on confidence building, discipline, self esteem, focus. Wide range of martial arts, boxing, self defense and physicals fitness. Top of the line. Do yourself a favor look around and see what you get at other schools. Then visit and speak to the people at SDBJJ. The best example is look at classes and the number of classes you get and the caliber of the instruction. Adults and children this is the place to be if you want the best. Newly upgrade and advanced coaching staff. The smaller coach to athlete makes it out standing for kids and adults. Many classes start with an early bird into evenings and classes 6 days a week. Special classes. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ While under new ownership the same outstanding benefit and training is still there. What made SDBJJ great remains the same. Sensei Wes the new owner has dedicated over 6 years at the school learning the system and what it means to be an asset to its students and the community. After training under many of the high level instructors he decided it was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Wes is a certified black belt in judo and BJJ and is dedicated to helping others especially the young. His mission remains the same as when the school was founded. Give the members a safe place to learn and grow. He says we want a programs that allows our coaches to build in our classes a way to become more confident, more discipline, more focused, and grow self esteem, everything to become better adults. For decades SDBJJ has been know as a premier training facility with modern equipment and a staff well trained with the same goals. The many classes daily offer classes for those about 4 years to our most senior students. The program has seperate classes for each age and skill group. If you are interested in just a workout, self defense or at some point earn a black belt even become a coach we have programs for you SDBJJ is one of the largest facilities dedicated to martials arts, boxing and fitness in the Nation. It has something for everyone and offers classes from before 6am throughout the day into the eve 6 days a week. Our coaching staff are well qualified and dedicated to our students Update they just had their first tournament under new ownership and the reviews were outstanding. It appears they are doing everything to carry on the tradition of excellence. Keep up the great work

I've been to a few gyms at this point, and SDBJJ has hands down the best community and culture. The coaches are awesome. The owner is a personal friend of mine that I've known since 2019. Joining SDBJJ is more than just joining a gym, it's joining a strong and loving community from all walks of life. 10/10, would recommend.
