This school is excellent! The environment and culture are very welcoming and my time there was one of the best jiu jitsu experiences I've had. Travis is a phenomenal professor with a supreme ability to help you understand techniques, their details, and their purposes. All the students that I met and trained with were exceptional people and very skilled practitioners. You will not regret training at Travis' school!

Was in San Francisco for work for about a week was looking for a BJJ gym to hopefully get some training, I Arrived at the academy was greeted by Travis who was a great teacher welcomed me like I was his student. All the regular members were great as well. Clean mats clean showers and a great "mom and pop" style gym feel.

Best place I’ve ever trained, bar none. Not only is full of the most skilled no-gi players in the city, the community is full of some of the most friendly, welcoming, and humble folks I’ve ever encountered in a sport where that is too often hard to find. Travis simply rocks, as both an instructor and as a human, and has created an atmosphere that keeps BJJ fun while making sure everyone is progressing and getting better. Glad to say that I found my gym for life.

Travis is one of the most precise technical teachers I have had and after training at 30+ other gyms he is still one of the best. He doesn’t mince words, but if you show dedication and humble yourself to learning he will give you everything he’s got. 10 years later I still owe a majority of my game to him the “advanced basics” of jiujitsu.

I must warn you the energy at this place is highly infectious. You might come in just wanting to try bjj, but you may eventually find yourself completely drawn into the game. When I was searching for a no gi bjj gym, I came across Magalit, took my first class with Coach Travis and I was instantly hooked. You’ll see people from all walks of life here, because everyone is genuinely welcomed and accepted. The environment is incredibly supportive, and people go out of their way to help you improve your technique. Whether you're looking to get fit, learn self-defense, or compete, Magalit is the place to be. Coach Travis and all the other coaches are fantastic. Travis breaks down each technique step by step and patiently goes over it until everyone has a solid understanding. I am super thankful to have found such a gem of a place in the city!
