About
Quantum Martial Arts offers an integrated approach to martial arts training in San Francisco, combining disciplines including MMA, Muay Thai, kickboxing, judo, and karate. The gym is led by founder and chief instructor Rachael Evans, a sixth-degree black belt, supported by assistant instructors Michael Shehane and Daniel James, along with several student teachers. This diverse coaching team provides instruction across striking, standup grappling, ground techniques, and weapons training, creating a comprehensive martial arts education. Two years at Quantum has taught me an unbelievable amount about myself and how I engage with the world. The dojo is an inclusive, non-competitive, and safe space to learn, grow and be challenged. I would recommend classes to any adult or child interested in martial arts or seeking a welcoming community.

Amazing dojo! I’ve traversed more than a 100 schools and Quantum is by far one of my favorite. Rare do you find a school with female master. Rarer do you find one that offers an integrated martial arts that cut across striking, standup grappling, ground, and weapons. But above all, Quantum is more than a place you come in for a workout. They are a community. They really become your friend. You bond over campfire and movie nights, in addition to spilling (blood, if you choose,) tear, and sweats together. If I had to pick any other place to start my martial arts journey, it would be at Quantum

A really lovely place to train body, mind, and spirit, to challenge yourself, and to meet cool people! The fighting style is practical and the community also has a deep respect for the artistic part of “martial arts.” Check it out!

I have trained at Quantum Martial Arts since 2012. If you are looking for a inclusive, community driven dojo that practices the integrity of martial arts, this is the place for you! The first week is free, so you can decide if the dojo and you are the right fit. Stay for 6 months, stay for 12 years... everyone's karate journey will look and feel differently. There are classes almost every day of the week. After 13 years of practicing here, yes - I have a black belt. I have taken a leadership role with the hope of inspiring the next generation of budding martial artists. But what drives me to train is not only the black belt master, Rachael Evans, who consistently shows me the beauty of the movement, but also the community we have here of advanced martial artists honing their craft, taking their athleticism to the next level, and sharing techniques from cross-training.

An amazing community of people! Quantum is a safe place to learn movement, flexibility, and integrity. My child and I have both been students for 4 years and the schedule allows us to have classes at the same time. Recently she said, " I wish all the kids at school were like my friends at karate."
