Six Blades Oakland is hands-down one of the top jiu-jitsu academies in the entire San Francisco Bay Area 🌟🥇 The energy here is unreal—driven, focused, and welcoming. You’re surrounded by people who are serious about rewiring their bodies and minds for the smoothest, most effective jiu-jitsu flow. What really sets this place apart are the small, technical subtleties being taught—things that completely change your game. The kind of details you pick up here would take months (if not years) to uncover at bigger academies, where you rarely get that kind of personal attention. There’s a real sense of lineage, integrity, and mastery on the mats, and the instructors truly see their students. That kind of guidance is rare. I’ll absolutely be back—and I can confidently say this place is a gem for anyone serious about evolving in the art.

Excellent place to train Brazilian jiujitsu! Professor Eduardo is beyond knowledgeable in the art. His instructions are clear and to the point, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Other students are extremely helpful and ready to explain the techniques. Beyond techniques, I feel like this place carries the spirit of the martial art. There's a rare sense of focus, mental clarity, self-control, and resilience. I find it very helpful for life in general.

My name is David Meyer and I am one of the first American’s to ever earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I have taught hundreds of seminars and trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools all around the world. I take every chance I get to recommend and to train at Rocha Jiu Jitsu. Professor Eduardo is a true master. His knowledge and ability to teach is simply the best you can find, and he also builds true internal and external strength in his students. It is unusual to find someone who can teach such a great class, and can also win world championships himself. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is serious about wanting to improve themselves and learn BJJ.

My coworker (3yrs training, blue belt) and I (13yrs training, black belt) were in Oakland for work for a week and decided to see if there was a spot nearby where we could train in the evenings. Professor Eduardo was probably the friendliest gym owner I've ever done this with. He and the other teachers and students were extremely gracious and welcoming. The warm ups were challenging and thorough, with extensive stretching. The techniques were classic and solid, with good detail and logical iterative variation. Positional drilling followed, and then extensive rolling. Everyone was technical, polite, and controlled while rolling, while keeping up good pressure and pace. No one was trying to rip your head off. Nobody had an ego. 6/5 stars! Exactly the environment all gyms should strive to be fostering. An absolute pleasure. PS: Challenging black belts!
