Our family prioritizes attending the Dojo with our high energy 5 year old at least once a week after seeing such a positive shift in his day to day. The skills he learns on the mat, are immediately put into practice at home - we regularly hear him whispering "Respect, Honor and Spirit" under his breath when he faces a challenge. We love how the Sifu's direct our sons energy, and use it to his advantage!

The Dojo is a great place for kids and adults to workout in San Anselmo. I took boxing lessons with Phil and appreciate that he embodies Respect, Honor, and Spirit. When we started a boxing program, he worked with our staff to make sure we were teaching proper form. Right? Great staff and wonderful people!

Our daughter has been training with Sifu Phil at Dojo Marin for the past 8 years, and it’s hard to put into words the impact this dojo has had on her life—and ours. We moved to Marin not knowing what our community would look like, and from the moment we first attended a Saturday family class and then a 6th birthday party here (yes, breaking boards!), it was clear we had found something special. Over the years, the dojo has become a second home. Through regular classes, summer camps, and spirited sparring sessions, our daughter has grown in remarkable ways—physically, mentally, and socially. Martial arts have helped her build strength, discipline, confidence, and respect—not just for herself, but for others. As a young female martial artist, she has learned to be powerful, grounded, and comfortable in her own skin, which is something we deeply value. The foundational tenets of martial arts—respect, perseverance, self-control, integrity, and courtesy—are not just taught here; they are embodied in every class, in every interaction, and especially in the leadership of Sifu Phil. His thoughtful guidance and commitment to each student’s individual journey have made a lasting impression on our daughter, and on us as a family. We are endlessly grateful for this dojo, for Sifu Phil, and for the safe, encouraging, and empowering community he has created. If you’re looking for a place where your child can grow into their best self, look no further.

Our son has been going to the Dojo for almost 5 years now. In that time our son has grown immensely with the supportive staff. The community is great, and Sifu Phil is a exceptional teacher. We highly recommend the Dojo for kids, families and adults.
