the intial onboarding phone call i had with head coach Danny gave me the impression Denver Muay Thai would be a place of real integrity and community care— Danny and his team delivered all that and more. as a femme queer, i could not have hoped for a more inclusive and welcoming community. classes were lead by knowledgeable and compassionate coaches, and every student reflects this same attitude of humility and respect. i’ve had a beautiful time with the gym, who helped me grow more confident and secure in myself. will forever be grateful for all ive experienced here.

I’ve had the chance to work closely with Coach Danny Chacon throughout my own fight prep over the past few years, and even though I based at a different gym, every time I’m in his space, it feels like home. He’s built an environment that’s incredibly welcoming — equal parts disciplined, technical, and genuinely positive. Danny has a rare ability to push everyone around him to grow, whether they’re beginners or seasoned fighters. The culture he’s created is respectful, motivated, and full of good energy. You can tell it’s built on passion, not ego. One of the best training environments I’ve ever experienced.

Denver Muay Thai has become such a special community to me. It is so friendly to all levels from beginners to competitors and truly all walks of life. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Danny’s gym and have made amazing friends! I love how many women consistently show up too and how encouraging everyone is. This isnt the case at every gym at all and martial arts can be especially intimidating for women. There is an excess of knowledge, respect, and joy here. I highly recommend anyone interested at all check it out.

The community here, and coach Daniel helped me transform into a better person. I started martial arts in 2020 right before COVID. My kenpo teacher is incredible, AND we were no longer sparring due to safety concerns, thus, I continued to practice katas and technique without any actual application. However, my Kenpo teacher understood martial arts wasn’t just about “fighting”, it was about self development, and I appreciated that. In 2023 I left KC and moved to Denver, where I got to meet Coach Daniel (but not for an entire year and a half later) and his team. I was looking for someone who embodied the soul of martial arts, and I found that and more at Denver Muay Thai. Coach Daniel, Coach Luisa, Coach Ben, and Coach Veronika held the container for me to learn how to be myself, how to move my body, and how to produce force. I found over time that my overall health (body-mind-spirit) was drastically improving. I got more and more into training until I was completely obsessed (March 2025), and took off like a rocket. Unfortunately, I had to leave this gym to move to Virginia. Thankfully Coach Daniel gave me a recommendation for a local gym. … So I started at this local gym a week ago, and my Mauy Thai is beautiful. I put in the work, learned the lessons from Denver Mauy Thai, and it really shows. (We all move similarly at Denver so I had no real source of comparison.) What the team teaches at Denver Muay Thai is structured, stylish, and powerful. I left that gym (Denver) with a heavy heart, for the friendships I developed meant a lot to me. I still miss them but there is some peace knowing that I proudly carry the lineage of Coach Daniel all the way out here in the East Coast. This guy loves his Muay Thai, loves his community, and loves teaching. If you’re looking for a gym led by a human who truly adores what he is doing, this is the gym for you.
