The training I got from Sensei Walker saved my life in a worst case scenario. I was getting choked and I survived. I'm forever grateful his teachings have stuck with me all these years. It's a honor and a privilege to have trained with him.

When I sat down to write this, I stopped to think of the day I signed my son up for karate. It was just after the lockdown; my son has never experienced not being in school. Since he was 3 months old, he has been around people. This lockdown has made him impossible his social interaction was in desperate need. Keep in mind he's only five years old at this time. So, I decided to place him here because the foundation seemed to be something that was looking for little did I know that this was something we both needed. My son has ADHD I had no idea what I was dealing with when school opened, he would run all over the school (his elementary school not karate) and there was no listening. He refused to go inside classes if he was bored or not interested in the topic. I came to master (sensi) walker frustrated and he not only individually did he talk to Shawn but he talked to the whole class about respect and appropriate behavior. During this transition Shawn knew if he left class he was going to be held responsible by not just me but by Sensi Walker. As a single mom having that support meant the world to me. I took my son to the office of his school and Shawn and I told them that his karate sensi would come up if the was ever an issue. I'm proud to say we have none, other than typical kid stuff. Another moment was when Shawn was becoming an individual dying his hair all kinds of colors changing his look to feel more like Shawn. I spoke to Senei Walker saying I was so sad because Shawn kept getting bullied at school by certain boys because of what he was doing with his hair they talked and he talked to the whole class and explain that everyone has choices to make. We can choose to change our appearance. That may be unusual to other people, and they choose to make fun of us. But we have to make that conscience choice to love who we are. He also said he loved Shawn's hair and would dye his hair too and come to lunch with Shawn. With him saying this to my kid not just once, but numerous times and in front of other people (other students who we have grown to love and adore) has made it so he can be himself. Shawn loves himself so much and at nine years old. I wish I had half of the confidence my son has I firmly believe without this dojo we would not be in this position. This past year I've personal felt alone from issues and Sensi Walker has stood and supported me even though I'm not a student. I can say a million things about Master Walker but it's also the vibe and the other teachers he has that keeps this family together. Mr Lee is one of my favorite people here as well unless you are working out he never lets you slack off (give up mr lee ill never be able to do a push up) haha. When we were competing we had no idea what we were doing he wasn't supposed to be a teacher he was also competing but he helped make sure Shawn was prepared and ready (this competition was crazy and no fault to the dojo) this made my year I was a scared parent and Mr Lee told me he would help Shawn and he did. This dojo builds self-confidence, self-control and teaches how to defend yourself. As a mother my proudest moment walking into my son's school was when they said a little boy tried to fight Shawn and he defended himself and uses only self-control. My kid did not to attack that kid but stopped him from attacking him. I got compliments walking through the halls of how amazing my son was. I'm sad to have missed it lol. I would recommend this dojo to anyone and everyone who is here looking to build a lifelong connection we aren't here just for Shawn these people have become my family and I'm excited for the future here.

I went here as myself as a kid, and decided to enroll my son, so he can learn for values and respect. I have no doubt that during his time at this dojo, he will learn everything he needs to to become a successful and respectful adult the classes are fun, engaging, and best of all they learn self-defense.
