The Academy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Arvada

I have been training with this organization for about 6 months now. I've been really impressed with the structure, level of instruction, friendliness and the people inside the gym. They cater to both hobbyists and competitors; novice and advanced students as well.

Loads of fun! Great group of people and very instructive teacher. The lessons are short, easy to grasp movements that are great body mobility and exercise drills and very practical. Distance and cost are prohibitive for me otherwise I would sign up today!

My 11-year-old nephew was visiting for a few weeks over the summer and needed a place to train. I found The Academy online, met with Professor Rob and Coach Lizzy, and took him to his first class that evening. The kids’ classes are exceptionally well run—combining skilled instruction, great cardio, and plenty of fun in every session. Over the course of 5 or 6 classes, my nephew had a fantastic time and consistently received high-quality training. Professor Rob and Coach Lizzy welcomed him like part of the team and gave him exactly what he’s always looking for: good, tough training that challenges him and helps him grow. Thank you both for making his summer training in Arvada such a great experience!

The instructors here are amazing - kind, very knowledgeable and experienced. They work well with children and adults of all fitness levels and experience. Lizzy is so compassionate and patient; she has an excellent understanding of body mechanics and her Jiu Jitsu skills are quite impressive. She also gives fantastic Foot Zone treatments (kind of like Reflexology) that have noticeable and lasting effects for swelling, pain and tension.

This place is legit. I was welcomed the minute I walked in there. Focus on technique, strategy, and truly understanding the why behind every move and position. This isn’t a place chasing the latest flashy trend from social media — it’s real, thoughtful jiu-jitsu taught with purpose and depth. Good balance of Gi and No-Gi. The community here is incredible. You’re surrounded by people who push you, people who support you, and people who genuinely want to help you grow. It’s the kind of environment where you feel challenged and safe in the best way and encouraged every step of the journey. I came in as an older student, honestly thinking I might be too old to start something like this. Professor Robert changed that mindset almost immediately. His teaching style, patience, and ability to adapt to each student made me realize that age wasn’t a barrier — just a story I’d been telling myself. There are plenty of good gyms in the Denver area, no question. But you really have to try this place to understand the difference. The Academy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is something special, and stepping through those doors was one of the best decisions I’ve made
