The Academy of Traditional Karate is amazing and I couldn't be happier that we've started our son there. The staff at every level are warm, knowledgeable and supportive. There is such a great energy about the place and I love that the kids get just as much character education as they do physical education. Throughout the pandemic ATK has continued to offer flexible options for classes and they are clearly diligent about health and safety. Highly recommend!!

My son has been going here for over a year and he loves it. The entire staff demonstrates kindness and patience when teaching the students. They also go above and beyond teaching life skills appropriate for various ages in combination with karate and fitness. Would recommend to anyone looking to get their child involved in a fun activity.

Academy of Traditional Karate is a wonderful place. The emphasis is on personal growth and development and how to support the individual’s journey while keeping focus on family, school, fun, and other fundamentals. Classes are engaging and varied: you won’t get bored. Progress through the stripe and belt system keeps students engaged. Scheduling is flexible and easy through their website. There is a vibrant adult student population! My son started in a youth program and I joined a year later on a whim. It’s fun, it’s healthy, and provides an extra bonding dimension for us. Try a class (usually free!) and see what it’s all about.

We love Academy of Traditional Karate. My 8 year old daughter started in summer of 2020 during the pandemic. She started classes outside and I can say that the dojo has always had their students at heart from the moment we started with them. They offered so many options - outside classes, zoom classes, and once they were able, inside classes again. My daughter has done them all and the quality is always the same - high level! The dojo is very encouraging and helpful and it has many fun extra activities if you want to take advantage of them. We’re so glad we found this place so that our daughter could continue to be active on a group environment throughout the pandemic!

My son has attended The Academy of Traditional Karate for about a year now. We’d previously done trial classes at a few other local dojos before settling on ATK. ATK may be a bit more expensive than some of the other dojos, but its quality is infinitely higher. Many local dojos have only one, or a few instructors, making it challenging for kids to get individualized instruction and attention (which is particularly needed in mixed class where kids are working on different skills and towards different belts); ATK has multiple instructors for each class. They also have flexible scheduling, allowing families to attend the sessions that work for their schedules. And they have an actual curriculum focused on character development, which encourages parental feedback/participation as well as teacher involvement, if needed. They helped my son with a behavioral issue at school, and his teacher has reported it has not been a problem since. I highly recommend ATK!! Karate is an expensive activity, this is the only dojo we’ve tried where that investment actually pays dividends in improved confidence and character.
