I spent a lifetime wanting to train Karate and I finally had the opportunity to start at the Izumi Karate School in Doral during my mid-fifties. I soon learned that Karate is not about fighting and winning medals but mostly a way of life where you learn teamwork and respect of others. Sensei Portillo teaches traditional karate with a positive outlook to life that improves your inner self and makes you a better person. I enjoy being part of a family where there are no age, cultural or language barriers.

I will definitely recommend Izumi karate school if are interested to learn authentic Shito ryu karate. Shihan Oswaldo is an excellent teacher with extensive knowledge in the art of karate-do.

Since 2020, my child has attended Izumi, and the team there has become like family to us. The professionalism of the personnel is truly remarkable. Under the guidance of Kathy, Nathy, and Sensei Oswaldo, my child has excelled in both academics and karate. I would wholeheartedly recommend this team.
