reviewsWhat Members Say

Members consistently praise the welcoming atmosphere and no ego culture, with many noting they were treated like regular students from their first visit. The coaching receives high marks for technical instruction and personal attention, with specific praise for Fabin's personable approach and Pedro's patience with children. Some beginners, particularly younger students, report feeling left behind in large classes and struggling with advanced techniques without proper gradual introduction. Concerns include noise from adjacent weightlifting areas and class sizes that sometimes stretch instructor attention thin, though these appear to be exceptions rather than the norm according to most reviews.

I dropped in to Fabian Rosa Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while traveling to Orlando from Boston and had an outstanding experience. From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming—true gym culture done right. The training was high-level but approachable, with solid technical instruction and great attention to detail. The rolls were tough, controlled, and respectful, with people who clearly care about improving while keeping each other safe. You can tell this is a room full of well-trained practitioners who enjoy helping others get better. Fabian and the team have built something special here. If you’re visiting Orlando and thinking about dropping in—or if you’re local and looking for a legit Jiu-Jitsu academy—I couldn’t recommend this place more.

I’m an upper belt and older grappler coming from Six Blades in the Washington DC area after relocating to Orlando. This is a great academy with a nice atmosphere , friendly crew, who knows deadly techniques. I feel blessed to have found the team and Fabin couldn’t be a nicer man. Last night we spent an hour after class just chatting about life. Off to a great start, I would highly recommend this gym for all of your martial arts needs. Grade A+

🥋✨🌟 We hit training twice today at Fabin Rosa BJJ, and the mats were packed! The coaches and students welcomed us with open arms. 🤗💪 The quality of instruction is top-notch, and the vibe on the mat is incredible. No egos here—just a fantastic group of people training hard, sharing ideas, and having a great time! 🙌❤️ Fabin is so personable; he truly makes you want to return. He pays attention to everyone, whether they’re hobbyists or competitors, and treats his guests like they’re one of his own students. 💖 Fabin Rosa is not just a place for exceptional BJJ; they genuinely prioritize building relationships and making friends first. Super welcoming, with a strong emphasis on no ego! 🥇

I (blue belt) train in DC and came to visit with three members of my family two kids under 7 and my 23 year old brother, none of which has trained before. Fabio welcomed all of them with such warmth and kindness, I was mystified. This place is a great gym with an awesome environment and great instruction. Pedro (an instructor) was incredibly patient with the kids and remarkably knowledgeable even within the advanced classes. Half of my family trains here now and when I visit I will too.

really wanted my daughter to enjoy training at Fabio Rosa BJJ, but our experience has been far from ideal. The gym might work well for advanced students, but beginners seem to get left behind quickly. The coaches tend to focus almost entirely on the more experienced kids, and new students are expected to pick up advanced moves right away — even ones that I, as an ex-fighter, find challenging. My daughter often left feeling discouraged and embarrassed because she couldn’t keep up, which is the opposite of what a beginner-friendly environment should provide. Another issue is the training environment itself. In the back of the gym there are people lifting weights and dropping them loudly, and at times the noise level gets overwhelming — even frightening for younger kids. It doesn’t create a calm or focused atmosphere for learning, especially for children who are just starting out. Class size is also a big problem. Some classes have 40+ kids with only three coaches, and there are days where my daughter barely gets any attention or help. She’ll practice a technique once or not at all because the coaches are stretched too thin. Unfortunately, it got to the point where my daughter started crying before classes because she didn’t want to feel lost or ignored again, and that’s ultimately why we decided to leave. No parent should have to watch their child feel defeated like that over a sport that’s supposed to build confidence. There might be potential here for students who are already advanced, but for beginners — especially kids — I would not recommend it unless they reduce class size, balance instructor attention, and make the space more beginner friendly. Kind regards, This is my reply to your reply: Thank you for the response, but I would like to clarify a few things. My daughter did attend classes for over 4 months, so it was surprising to see you state that there is no record of us. I never mentioned her name or dates in my review, and no one attempted to reach out to identify or contact me, which makes that statement feel dismissive rather than investigative. Regarding your claim that beginners are not expected to perform advanced techniques — that was not our experience. My 10-year-old daughter was placed on day one with much more advanced kids and was expected to follow along with complicated moves she had never been taught. There was no gradual or beginner-level introduction, which led to frustration and eventually her crying every time I mentioned class. This is the main reason I shared my review, yet none of this was addressed in your reply. Another concern not mentioned in your response was the loud noise from weights being dropped in the adjacent area. The constant banging was startling for the kids and added to the stress of the environment. My review was honest and based on our real experience, and I shared it in hopes that it could lead to reflection and improvement. I’m glad that others may have had better experiences, but I stand by my feedback.
