I have been attending the Danzan Ryu Jujitsu class with Sensei Bill for about two months now. This is an exceptional dojo. Sensei Bill is a great and patient instructor who gives real world uses for the techniques that he teaches. I have a bit of background in martial art, i.e. judo and FCS (Filipino Combat Systems) and joining this class has been a fantastic addition to my skill set. Class is easy to follow and we get to work with different students throughout. The students are also very knowledgeable and give great feedback. If you are looking for a Danzan Ryu dojo look no further. You've found the best :).

I've been involved in Dan Zan Ryu since 1995. Sensei Bohan has an amazing approach to the art that not only develops physical ability but also a mental acuity as well. Each class builds on the last, but there is always room made for a new student to be included in the lesson and never left wanting. Whether you're looking for self defense or just personal development, the Dan Zan Ryu curriculum will work for you. The dojo is an Aikido dojo, but its much more than that. It is home to 7 Japanese based martial arts systems. You won't find more authentic and effortful instruction elsewhere in Orlando. Please remember that this is a Japanese jujitsu system which is different than Brazilian jujitsu. There's absolutely a lot of crossover but they aren't the same. We welcome all to train with us. We currently do not have a kids program, however. Try a few free classes and see how you like it! Can't say enough good things about Florda Dan Zan Ryu!

Have been going here for almost 6 months. I was hesitant because there aren’t many reviews, but this place is legit. It is only one evening a week rented from an Aikido dojo, and I cannot recommend it enough. This is a full contact art, but not hard core grappling rounds like Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. We focus on standing submissions and takedowns, and Sensei Bill focuses 100% on defense. I am super happy I gave Danzan Ryu a chance.

I had high hopes for this jiu-jitsu class, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The instructor seemed more interested in showing off than actually teaching, offering little guidance to beginners. The class was overcrowded, making it hard to get any one-on-one attention, and the more experienced students were dismissive and unhelpful. To make matters worse, the gym itself was not well-maintained—dirty mats and poor ventilation made training uncomfortable. The class structure was also frustratingly disorganized, with no clear progression or focus on fundamentals. If you’re serious about learning jiu-jitsu in a supportive and professional environment, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. This was a waste of time and money.
