Keiko Shin Karate Academy

Our 6-yr-old daughter Penelope started at Keiko Shin 9 months ago, attending the after school program. Ms. Ibe was very helpful in getting her enrolled and settled. Penelope immediately fell in love with karate and her amazing and VERY PATIENT Sensei, Miss Destiny. We have noticed a big improvement in her attention span, ability to focus, discipline and her overall “toughness”. She has recently started training to be on the competition team and is very excited to train with Sensei Ernesto. She not only gets plenty of exercise with her training but has also made lots of friends. At first, we were worried that her school work would suffer because of the time and attention to karate instead of homework; but we couldn’t be happier. She is on the honor roll and is doing great in school because of the discipline and character building she is learning from karate. We would highly recommend Keiko Shin to anyone looking to join a karate family, not just a dojo.

I was highly recommend this dojo from a friend when she heard I was having a hard time finding a reputable dojo. Sensei Ernesto has done an amazing job with teaching our son the art of karate, my son has a learning disability and was having a hard time at school. Since joining he has gained confidence, renewed focus, and has become more of an advocate for himself. Six months after starting basic karate my son was asked to join the competition team and we have continued to watch him grow in such a short time. What a great family friendly studio.. Your children deserve the best and this dojo is it.

We have an amazing experience at Keiko Shin Karate Academy! My son Alfred attended both the regular classes and the summer camp, and he absolutely loved every moment. Ms Ibe was really helpful in making sure our son is settled and my heart is at ease. The instructors Sensei Ernesto and Ms Destiny are skilled, patient, and truly dedicated to teaching the kids not only karate but also discipline, respect, and confidence. The summer camp was especially fantastic—well-organized with a great mix of fun activities and karate training. So happy to see Alfie enjoy his classes and make new friends. I started taking the adult karate class at Keiko Shin about 2 years ago, as a form of physical fitness and self defense. I quickly became entrenched in the art of traditional Shotokan Karate. The classes are challenging and the atmosphere is welcoming and family oriented. Sensei Ernesto Fuentes is passionate about what he does and genuinely cares about his students of all ages!

It is hard to put into words how much Keikoshin and our newfound family mean to us. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Sensei Ernesto and Destiny for their continued dedication and commitment to each student that attends class at the dojo. Our son, Luke has found a passion for karate, gained confidence, discipline and is eager to go to class each day. Seeing him love something like he does truly makes us happy. He went from being extremely shy in his first few classes to beaming with pride each time I see him on the mat. He has things he works on each class that he might not be strong in, and watching him learn and apply the skills from class is incredible. He is more focused and confident against any hurdle that comes his way, whether that is from others trying to bully him in school to a task he might not be familiar with. The Sensei’s are patient and kind to each person that enters the dojo and they put their heart and soul into everything they do. You can tell when you see them interact with their students and motivate them to be the best version of themselves. If you are looking for a place that your child can go and learn the art of karate and find a family with their teammates, look no further. We will be eternally grateful that we found KeikoShin and look forward to every moment we spend in our second home. The lessons he is learning here are invaluable and I know his time spent here will forever be a part of his life. He will have fond memories and reflect back on them with pride.
