Anybody who spends five minutes with Keith, the head instructor at Tampa Shotokan, knows that he's one of the nicest, most enthusiastic blackbelts you could learn karate from. However, what they might not immediately realize is that Keith is also a top-notch fighter who has provided jiyu kumite (free-style sparring) instruction to members of Shotokan Karate of America's international tournament team. Keith has a down-to-earth style that is rooted in fundamentals and effectiveness. Always upbeat, he espouses the very best of traditional karate values. Anyone looking for a warm, welcoming place to train in authentic Japanese karate in the Greater Tampa area should definitely stop by and check out this dojo.

This is a fabulous dojo. The instructors are incredibly experienced both in practice and in teaching. Keith Kirk is one of Shotokan Karate's best fighters, but he is also an insightful student of kata and, despite his talents, he's able to easily understand how to work with students for whom karate does not come as easily. Highly recommended!

Terrific dojo with a focus on traditional karate values rather than a commercial business model. Great dojo for beginners and women as well.
