AJM is the best judo school in Atlanta. I never knew how much I'd fall in love with Judo and the environment at AJM is unlike other martial arts gyms. A lot of gyms I've entered don't tend to be very welcoming off the bat and are scary/intimidating, but the Senseis and the other students at AJM are extremely friendly to new-comers and make them feel like a part of the fam. I have been training here for over 2 years now and wouldn't have it any other way. So many awesome friendships made, events attended, and techniques learned. Love AJM!

I’ve been coming here for about 5 months after exploring a few different martial arts and places, and found it to be a hidden gem. They truly have some world class instructors here. Yes judo is hard and a little dangerous, but you will be taken care of here and fall in love with the sport.

What a very special place! I have recently returned to judo, a sport I played from my teens through my 30’s, after nearly 40 years away. I found Atlanta Judo Midtown the perfect place to do so. AJM is a great judo family that really cares about all of their students, welcoming, encouraging and challenging each one to work at reaching their goals. There is a top flight group of instructors and coaches, an extremely clean and well maintained dojo, and a great admin staff. For myself I was particularly drawn to their Strong and Stable program which addressed the risks seniors have of being injured by falls. They have developed this unique program to help seniors learn to fall more safely using and adapting the techniques learned by every judoka when they start the sport. This is accompanied by exercises focused on strengthening the muscles needed for mobility and stability. On top of that it is just a lot of fun! It was the ideal place for me to gain confidence and refresh skills, It has helped me to come back to playing judo again and I cannot thank them enough!

I was very happy with my experience in AJM this summer. I really liked that in the classes there was a lot of developing of new techniques, various agility games like grip fighting & leg sweeps, and there were pretty strong randouri partners. I significantly improved my judo skills over these 3 months. Sensei Matt is great. I very much liked his instructions, demonstration and attention to details. The atmosphere was always very friendly and engaging. Senior students like Jacob would often offer some corrections & advices. Overall, I had an amazing time and was always looking toward to come back to the class. I’ll be coming back whenever I’m in Atlanta, hopefully, more often!
