I love the way Karate is taught here! They incorporate meditation and quiet focus in the beginning and the end of their classes, and the instruction is great as well as the belt level evaluations. They make it a big deal and it’s great for my son. The director of the program is very communicative through email and goes the extra mile to help students thrive in this martial art. Highly recommend them!

I have been training here for around 2 months and could not be more pleased. This place is truly special, and every single person here has been incredible. The instructors are outstanding, and the community is warm and supportive. I could not recommend this place more for anyone looking to start or continue their martial arts journey.

Sensei Toru Shimoji is truly one of the most gifted and knowledgeable practitioners of traditional Japanese Karate in the world. I have had the honor of training with Toru, Sensei Alex Tong and Brad Webb in Dallas, Sensei Sugiyama in Chicago, Sensei Fusaro in Minneapolis, and numerous other true Karate-do practitioners who can trace the lineage of their training back to Sensei Funakoshi. Toru's technical knowledge, experience, and respect for the history, principles, and physiological mechanics behind technique are virtually unmatched in the United States. Toru uses a logical grouping of techniques for each month that build on each other and his passion for passing on the art is evident in everything he does. His senior instructors have trained with him for years and have the same dedication to the art and teaching as Toru. The training is conducted rigorously but safely and I cannot recommend more highly this dojo and these instructors. Several years ago, to provide a more complete skillset in self-defense, numerous instructors began training in Jiu Jitsu which they also now teach in their own purpose-built Jiu Jitsu dojo in the same building. They are just as dedicated to this skill as well. If we hadn't moved so far away, I would still train with Toru and the other Karateka at Jinsendo Martial Arts every chance possible. It was an honor to train with him and the other instructors Rene, Sasa, Andy, and the other Dan-level karateka. Sincerest gratitude, Will Dempsey Roswell, GA

My daughter has been training at Jinsendo Karate for a few months and we love it. Sensei Shimoji has a wonderful rapport with all his students (no matter their age) and has a team of fantastic teachers working there with him. They do a great job allowing the kids to have fun and enjoy karate and challenging them to improve their form and increase their knowledge.

Sensei Shimoji is gifted karate practicioner and also a gifted teacher. Rather than having students copy his movements, he uses his academic background in biomechanics and his deep understanding of the learning process to guide students towards a deeper understanding of how to use their energy efficiently and effectively. He includes discussion of all aspects of karate in his classes, from very practical self defense topics to cleaning up techniques in kihon waza, kata and kunite to more abstract topics such as the mind-body connection and strategy. Although I have studied karate for many years, I find that each of Sensei Shimoji's classes brings fresh insights to my understanding of the art. I highly recommend his classes for students at all levels.
