We are so happy we found this gym. Initially we joined for our children to continue with Jiu Jitsu, but the community here quickly got my wife and I interested and immediately hooked on the practice. We are lucky enough to train 6 days a week. It is an extremely safe and supportive space for newbies and women. The focus is always on humbling ourselves to the learning process. My 6 year old and 8 year old love it. They have a greater sense of their bodies and how they move through space, they’ve made new friends, and were welcomed and drawn in by the attention and assistance of the amazing coaches who teach the kids real jiu jitsu as well as real jiu jitsu skills in the form of games. Again, we can’t recommend this gym enough. Coach Lawson, Coach Greg, Coach Sean, Coach Randy, Coach Jim, Coach Min, OSS!

This is an awesome gym! My daughter attended it as long as she could and learned incredibly valuable skills amongst awesome instructors and other students.. At times she was the young one in class but that didn’t matter, she got strong 💪 and learned so so much. Totally recommend for all ages. And easy location too

SBG Atlanta has the best bjj and martial arts programs in the area. The gym is welcoming and the coaches are knowledgeable and skilled at breaking down the information to make it easy to learn. The mat space is well organized. The gym is spotless and clean which is crucial for anyone considering getting into martial arts. If you’re interested in learning bjj or martial arts, you’d be doing a disservice to your future self to train anywhere else. You will not find a better gym.

I never really planned on signing up for Jiu Jitsu. I wanted a martial art for my son, and after trying a few, we found this place. It was amazing, he ACTUALLY wanted to go back. After about half a year, my little boy said something to me. Dad, how long have you been going to Orange Theory? I beamed thinking I was in for a compliment. Thank you for noticing, I've gone to over 50 classes. But he wasn't complimenting me. He said, oh, well Dad, you're still fat. You should come to Jiu Jitsu with me. You'll still be fat, but at least you'll know Jiu Jitsu. Initially I was just stunned by the genius logic of it all. Then I was touched that he wanted me to join his thing. This was his world and he wanted to share it, and I could see how much he loved it. So I took my middle-aged, out-of-shape, dad-of-three self through the door. It was never something I had any desire or interest in doing, but who passes up a chance to share an experience with one of their kids when they invite you in? It's really been great. I can't recommend this enough. My younger daughter has since joined as well and loves it, and when our third child is old enough, I hope she'll join us too. When we had to pause a little while for my work demands I was asked almost daily during those few months when we could come sign back up. Has your kid ever had an activity they cared that much about? That it's their idea to do and sustain? That you don't have to drag them to? That you can't keep them away from? I'm objectively terrible at Jiu Jitsu and have no natural athletic or physical abilities. But I'm learning to endure it. It's hard, and that's made easier by the great coaches and teammates. Even if you never saw yourself doing this, you should try it. As you begin this journey here is some good advice to keep in mind, SBG has lineage to Chris Haueter, who says it's not who's good, it's who's left. Come in to this knowing it'll take a long time to be good, that this is a marathon and lifetime thing you are starting. Be patient with it. Give this place a shot for your family and for yourself. Start the marathon. It's something you can do your whole life. There are people decades older than me on the mat and they can destroy me and you too. They inspire me to stay on the journey.

Absolutely love my experience here! I've only taken the fundamentals classes so far, but even from this early stage, I can tell that the gym has a strong traditional background, which was exactly what I was looking for. As someone who's always been very involved in my gym community, I can definitely feel the sense of camaraderie here. Even in the fundamentals, there's a real community vibe, which is rare in those classes where it’s usually more about individual development. The coaches are fantastic—they break things down in a way that's easy to follow and really make sure everyone is getting the attention they need. I also appreciate the structure here. Unlike other gyms I've been to where the training felt a bit random, here there’s a clear focus on progression, which helps me sharpen my skills more effectively.
