Imagine a D-1 weight training facility that also has the largest, cleanest BJJ mat you’ve ever seen in your life? That’s Team Octopus Midtown. You want Muay Thai training? They’ve got a forest of heavy bags. You want to learn BJJ? They’ve got a half dozen white belts to learn with you at the same pace. You want to roll with a Kaiju-sized competition purple belt? They’ve got plenty of those too. This place rules. And they have a shower facility with towel service.

Have been coming here for years. Its an excellent gym. The team here is fantastic. Their trainers are awesome - Minh is one of the top kickboxing and muay thai coaches in ATL, and Chad is one of the best crossfit coaches I've ever seen do the job. Great community vibe. Very respectful environment while also trying to be encouraging of everyone achieving their fitness goals. Some folks even bring their dogs to hang out while they work out, which is a great bonus to the energy. Update - they are amazing with dogs. Roberto, who runs the jiu jitsu program, literally pulled a dog bed out of his office for my puppy so the little guy could sleep while I worked out. Such good people at this gym.

I trained at Team Octopus Midtown for about a year while I was living in Atlanta and I genuinely would not have picked any other place to train. This is an extremely welcoming and friendly gym. Everyone from the front desk to the coaches and staff makes you feel comfortable from day one. There is zero ego and a very positive atmosphere. Professor Roberto Traven is a legend in the jiu jitsu world and the instruction is top tier. The coaches are excellent and the culture he has built is exactly what you want. People are there to get better together and be good training partners. I trained three to four times a week while I lived there and never once had a bad experience. I primarily trained jiu jitsu but the gym also offers Muay Thai CrossFit and strength training with great coaches across the board. The facilities are clean the mats are well maintained and the locker rooms are nice. They have classes for all levels including beginners and advanced students so no matter where you are in your journey you will fit in. If I had not moved away from Atlanta this would have been my home gym long term without question. If you are looking for a gym in the Atlanta area to train jiu jitsu or martial arts in general this is the place. I miss training here and would recommend Team Octopus to anyone without hesitation.

Trained here for two years as a BJJ blue belt (only left because I moved out of Atlanta). This place is wonderful! The instructors teach very effective techniques and I grew a lot during my time here. Professor Traven especially puts a huge amount of time & effort into the program and you can tell he really cares. It is a deep pool and there are a lot of high-level people training here. Classes have an expectation that you do not skip rolls during sparring, which at first I had some trepidation about, but grew to really appreciate as it pushes you to perform and see how your technique fares when you are exhausted. Also now when I drop in at other gyms the students there are amazed at my cardio! The school also has a wonderful location, right along the beltline, and I loved biking to & from class every day for warmup & cooldown. Finally, people here are very nice. It has a good gym culture. Greatly recommend!
