All of the instructors are great. Matt is an expert in his skill and spends individual time with each member to mentor them when providing instruction on a new technique. With children, Matt does an excellent job of keeping them engaged and on-task. Membership enrollment continues to grow as a testament to his excellent leadership and commitment to sharing his knowledge in a positive, encouraging and supportive environment. For ladies, this is a great place to learn and grow in an environment that is safe, and respectful of dignity and modesty. The female members are very supportive and there are members with high skill sets to challenge those who are more experienced. Matt is very involved in this community and regularly hold events to provide community outreach. I encourage anyone to check out Driven to experience what they have to offer. I would recommended it anyone from children, to adults.

Matt and his crew have been nothing short of amazing when it comes to instruction, encouragement, and kindness in my son's jiujitsu journey. I have, and will continue to, recommend Driven to anyone who is wanting to train for themselves or their children.

It’s tricky to count the many different BJJ gyms in the valley and I haven’t been to any other locations except this one, with my son, because this was our first and last stop. We can all agree that there are many aspects to winning someone’s business, I can confidently say this business is easily 5 stars in all aspects. Thank you, Driven Jiujitsu, for creating an amazing environment in so many ways.

Driven Jiujitsu helped me invest time better in my kids. If you’re reading reviews, you’re probably looking for what I’m looking for: Context on someone else’s personal experience so you can figure out what’s useful to you, and what isn’t. Here’s my context so you can figure out what works for you (if anything). My wife and I selected jiujitsu because it has a unique ability to give practical fighting confidence—applied at 100% effort—without the higher risk level of micro head traumas that can add up quickly (and are more common with a striking martial arts, or more conventional contact sports). We landed at Driven Jiujitsu early 2024, because it was close to our house. With two working parents, extracurriculars have to involve some commute practicalities, and offer a value proposition (ex. class times, days/week and cost). The business location and class times fit well with bus pick-up times for our [then] 6-year-old (boy) and 4-year-old (girl). I perceive the value for the cost of Driven Jiujitsu membership better than our participation in basketball, baseball, flag football, and soccer over the last 2-years (for whatever reference point that gives you). I’ve had close to 2-years of experience with Driven Jiujitsu. Before I tell you why I consider Driven Jiujitsu a unique kind of investment in my kids, let me state a few things about my thinking that may be useful to you: 1) I’m 46 years old, out of shape, and I don’t want to “roll” (jiujitsu sparring) for myself. I just can’t get there. I roll with my [now] 8 and 6-year old if they initiate, but that’s about the extent. (Don’t feel like there’s pressure to participate as a parent is what I’m trying to say). 2) Most times, I stay at practice to watch. But sometimes, I need some flexibility to drop and go—or turn the kids’ practice session into a remote work session. This is no problem at Driven Jiujitsu. 3) I know many of the parents who attend practice sessions regularly when my kids attend…I enjoy their company, and I think this adds to the family-friendly culture of Driven Jiujitsu that impacts the positive experience of our kids. So why I think Driven Jiujitsu is a unique investment in my kids comes down to the man who leads the charge at Driven Jiujitsu—Matt Edgington. (You can read about his accolades in multiple martial arts—in addition to jiujitsu—elsewhere). But just because you have talents in executing jiujitsu doesn’t mean you have talents in teaching it to kids ages 4-11, much less understanding how to emotionally connect with kids; Matt has these gifts to do it well. It’s a combination of who he is as a person, and the culmination of many years of experience teaching martial arts to kids that gives no shortcuts to that wisdom, empathy, and patience gained as an instructor. Matt makes the efforts to connect a lot of “life stuff”—where kids have little context for life struggle understanding—to their own jiujitsu struggles/celebrations they experience in practice. This sounds like an easy thing to do, but it’s harder to execute well than it sounds—even harder to do it well consistently. Matt prioritizes this, and he does it well. Our family has had a very positive experience with Driven Jiujitsu…5-stars.

When I tell you we tried almost every jiu jitsu gym in the area, I mean it. There’s a reason why Driven is the place my kids train at. The instruction is top notch and they are learning invaluable skills for life on and off the mat. My kids have felt welcomed and valued since day one and look forward to going to class every day. We love Driven!
