Gem State Jiu Jitsu

I’m currently a blue belt under coach nassif, and I will probably not be the first to say, Gem State, the coaches, and the team, have done a fantastic job at making all skill levels, all ages, and shapes feel welcome at GSJJ. No matter if you wish to compete at the highest levels, or just simply to get into shape, this is your place.

Coaches Sharon and Reece are both competent, passionate and skilled in jiu jitsu. I started classes here about a year ago, and have seen how these owners work on and off the mats. Jiu Jitsu has two parts: the sport itself, and the gym community. Reece and Sharon know the sport, and know how to teach everyone at any experience level. That's important, but the community is why I continue training. Reece and Sharon are honestly just good people. They're involved in the local community of Kuna, and care about the jiujitsu and personal lives of each of their members. It's very easy to recommend them to anyone who'll listen. If you want to learn a great sport and join a group of people that will enrich your life, Gem State Jiu Jitsu will have what you're looking for.

Even though Gem State Jiu-Jitsu is fairly new, there’s already such a strong, supportive community vibe. You can tell people genuinely want to be there. Everyone shows up with great energy, and it’s the kind of place where you immediately feel welcomed—even if you’re just observing from the sidelines like me. Reece and Sharon are absolute naturals with the kids. I’ve watched them somehow keep a whole room of tiny humans engaged, learning, laughing, and not accidentally tackling each other—which, honestly, feels like a black belt skill on its own. The kids clearly adore them and have a blast every class. And the adult classes? The people are just as welcoming, motivated, and fun. You can see Coach Reece creating an environment where beginners feel comfortable jumping in, and more experienced students get real, quality training. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and patient, breaking down techniques in a way that's perfect for beginners like me while still challenging the more advanced students. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive no egos here, just a great community focused on growth and fun.
