I wholeheartedly recommend GB West Loop! What began as a simple curiosity to engage with my son's new sport has blossomed into a profound, life-altering transformation for our entire family. Professor Dourado's instruction is consistently skillful, respectful, and expertly tailored to every learning level. We've not only reaped immense mental and physical benefits, but also discovered a truly wonderful community there.

Amazing Jiu Jitsu school. We have joined as a family and it has changed our lives. The instructors are very respectful and experienced in welcoming new beginners like ourselves. My 3.5 year old is making new friends and even though he trains together with kids of much older age like 10, he is having a blast and I always feel it is a safe space for him. There are options for classes at different times of the day, which allows for some flexibility. A month in, we are already feeling the difference mentally and physically. Strongly recommended!

I am staying in Chicago for a week and am a member of Gracie-Barra Overland Park in Kansas. I was allowed to drop in and train with some really great folks who welcomed me as part of the Gracie-Barra team. I stayed for the fundamentals class as well as the advanced class. The professor is a world class jiu jitsu practitioner, having won multiple world championships. As good of a competitor as he is, he is also an incredible instructor. If your looking for the best place to train Brazilian jiu jitsu in Chicago, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced student, there is no where better to train than Gracie-Barra west loop.

Gracie Barra in West Loop is phenomenal, I’ve been attending for 4 months now I love it . The gym is very welcoming and professional , it’s a place for everyone regardless of skill level, I joined with little to no experience. Professors Carlos Lemos Jr, Carlos Lopez , and Marcelo Dourado are incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated. They have a real passion for teaching jiu jitsu and demonstrate it very effectively. Joining this gym was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Loved the 1.5 years spent at Gracie Barra. I came in knowing nothing about martial arts and immediately got hooked. The classes are great for either beginners or advanced participants. The coaches have a strong depth of expertise and bring in guest professors for a variety of teachings. The location is easy to get to and well maintained. Highly recommend!
