Spending a week in Chicago for work and brought my Gi, hoping to squeeze in some training. After seeing Team Kuma's excellent reviews, I called them and asked to see if I could drop in. I was a bit nervous, as I'm still a beginner and wasn't sure what to expect, but Coach Amir and the students immediately welcomed me and put me at ease. The class was awesome, and I especially loved the way the drilling was structured - a sequential progression to a final position/submission, which was easy to follow since it was simple moves each round. I also really enjoyed the rolls after class which were challenging yet friendly, with a healthy mix of beginners and higher belts. I had a wonderful experience and would absolutely train at Team Kuma if I lived in the area.

My kids have been training in Jiu-Jitsu there for a little less than a year now, and the progress they've made is amazing! The instructors are super patient, knowledgeable, and passionate about teaching kids. They've not only learned self-defense techniques but also valuable life skills like discipline, respect, and confidence. The gym is clean, safe, and welcoming, and the community is incredible. We've met some amazing families and kids there united by Team Kuma 😊 Highly recommend Team Kuma to any parent looking for a great martial arts program for their kids!

I highly recommend Professor Amir if you're looking to learn and improve your jiujitsu. He invests significant amount of time into his students, both on and off the mats. He takes the time to understand my individual strengths and weaknesses and tailors his instruction accordingly. His personalized approach has been incredibly beneficial to my game. (PS: Thank you for helping me win my first gold!") From the high-level instruction to the welcoming community, Team Kuma is by far one of the best BJJ gyms in the area. Gym is well-maintained, clean, and creates a safe space for female trainees.
