The New Orleans Karate Institute in Belle Chasse is what I like to call home. People I have met along the way, while trying to get my black belt, have been very supportive. My favorite thing about the NOKI is that my Sensei is very strict but supportive to me improving my skills.

New Orleans Karate Institute is an amazing place to take your little ones who need some discipline and to learn a skill. Sensei is absolutely amazing with the kids and he takes time to give them the attention they need. My son loves going to Karate. The schedule is so flexible and accommodating. Wish I would have signed him up sooner.

My husband and I began training at New Orleans Karate Club in 2007. We immediately saw the value of the program. Karate is a wonderful way to exercise. It improves your balance, your strength, your self-confidence, and your self-discipline. Master Maben gives his students a clear understanding of how techniques can be applied in real life scenarios. He does this in a way that is both age appropriate as well as size appropriate. Karate is a fantastic way to spend time as a family so, if you have a child or children don’t just consider karate for them, but consider taking the class with them. New Orleans Karate Club is not a belt factory. You will only advance to the next level when you have achieved all of the requirements for your current level. Master Maben also invites high ranking karate experts to New Orleans Karate Club for weekend long seminars. Over the years my husband and I have had the privilege of training with Grand Master Nakamoto from Okinawa, Japan, and Professor Dan Anderson, a 6th Degree Black Belt (Senior Master) in Filipino Modern Arnis. I am proud to say my husband and I have achieved 2nd degree black belt, we have competed in a national Isshin Ryu karate tournament, and we are both in the best shape of our lives.

My kids and I have been training at New Orleans Karate Institute since 2012. They have a great respectable staff. They build kids self-esteem and teach them the importance of respect and hard-work to achieve their goals. If you are looking for a school, this is the one for you!

I have been going to New Orleans Karate Club for 3 years now, and it has impacted my life in so many amazing ways! Before I joined, I struggled with poor mental health, and was very insecure about myself, but that changed very quickly. I soon became more confident, my mental health became so, so much better, and I have met some of the most amazing people here. I am now a black belt, and this place has become a second home to me. I look forward to coming here everyday because I know that I will be welcomed by the most amazing friends that I have made here, and by Hanchi, Burton Maben. I have trained with many dojos, but no dojo has made me feel more appreciated and comfortable to be there, other than New Orleans Karate Club.
