I’ve been training at New State Fitness for about three months, and it’s easily one of the best decisions I’ve made. One of the biggest reasons I chose this gym is the huge variety of class options. There are classes every day, often multiple BJJ sessions, plus striking and No-Gi, so there are truly no excuses not to train. It blows away places that only offer a couple adult classes a week. The coaches are friendly, approachable, and incredibly clear in their instruction. It’s not one of those gyms where people are trying to take your head off. The vibe here is skill-building, not ego. The training environment is exactly what I was looking for: encouraging, helpful teammates, and zero “vicious gym” energy. I felt welcome from day one. In just a few months I’ve already seen my cardio improve and gained a much better understanding of the fundamentals. The gym is also clean, well-kept, and organized, which matters more than people realize. I’d recommend New State Fitness to absolutely anyone: beginners, hobbyists, competitors, kids, adults, retired folks, anyone who wants quality training in a supportive environment. Couldn’t be happier training here.

Awesome place to train! I was traveling and Professor Charlie was very inviting for me and 2 friends to come into his gym. He allowed us to wear our own gis that we wear at our home schools too. His school is full of really awesome people as well and has white belts to black belts! Really relaxed atmosphere too! Next time I'm in NOLA, I'm definitely going back!!

I had a great experience with Professor Charlie and his students. It’s great sign when you are visiting from out of town and they treat you like this is your homeschool. Quality instruction and quality environment. Stop in if you’re ever visiting and definitely consider them if you live in the area.

Clean mats, excellent instruction, and friendly members from all walks of life. Not only is Charlie an excellent jiu-jitsu practitioner/instructor, but he's also incredibly personable and cares about your progress. There were always 3 or more black belts on the mat and many other upper belts to learn from. This is the place to train if you are in New Orleans.
