NXGen Fitness Center
About
NXGen Fitness Center offers mixed martial arts, wrestling, and kickboxing training in a modern facility with new equipment and clean locker rooms. Members appreciate the variety of workout options and amenities like a sauna room, though some note the price point is higher than other local gyms. The gym provides various classes, though some members wish for more flexible scheduling without advance sign-ups and expanded class space to accommodate more participants. Early morning and late afternoon class times are also requested by members with specific work schedules.

Great gym! Although the price point is on the higher side, the quality of the staff justifies it. For example Rob and Owen are outstanding — attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in member experience. Their professionalism and consistency make a noticeable difference and are a big reason I continue coming here. Employees like them add real value to NXGEN and deserve recognition. I highly recommend this gym!

I’m glad I came to this gym! It’s been a great experience with all of the options for working out! The sauna room has also been a nice addition as well!

I thought the gym was very clean and of course the equipment is new. I do think the price is more expensive than other gyms, however, they do offer classes. I do wish there were more aerobic rooms that held more people and we did not have to sign up in advance to take classes. Making more space for classes may solve that. It was nice to come into a gym where I was a member and join class when I walked in; like I have done in past with LifeStyle, Worlds Gym and Fitness Factory. I also wish the hours were 24/7, and early morning classes around 5 am so folks who work early by 7 am could go before work....or classes around 330 when some teachers are free to go right after work. Over all the locker rooms were sparkling clean , the staff was nice and took time to answer all my questions, and there are a lot of extra options if you can afford to pay for them.

Oh wow, I thought I was the only one. I had been going to the Scarborough location for some time and unfortunately made the mistake of visiting the Portland location. My experience there was extremely disappointing. Rob at the front desk was very rude, snarky, and unwilling to help either me or my mother, who I had brought in to sign up for a membership. It was quite embarrassing. We ended up walking out, and will not be returning.

I joined NXGen Fitness in early September after visiting with my wife and liking the facility. Unfortunately, from the start, the front desk staff were impatient and dismissive — my wife was disappointed. When I signed up, one staff member, Rob, refused to answer a simple question about membership categories and just walked away mid-conversation, leaving me feeling brushed aside and disrespected. The manager later admitted that Rob did not handle himself correctly or professionally and even apologized for the experience. But then he said he had “seen on the footage” that I went back at Rob, swearing and threatening to take the conversation outside — something that simply never happened. I was stunned. I asked them to review and share the footage to clear things up, but they refused. It should have been a simple fix. It’s bad enough that the staff treated me the way they did, but having management and ownership show no interest in finding the truth was even more disappointing. Being accused of things that never happened was frustrating and unfair.
