I started attending Fearless Family martial arts Where I met Coach Robb 7 years ago. At the age of 42 and weighing 300 lbs I walked into that gym broken with health problems and sever Depression. I knew I needed help but didn’t know what to do for myself. I needed someone to push me. If someone has told me at that age or now at 49 I would be a brown belt I would of told them they were crazy. But here I am all of the above and that is all because Coach Robb would not let me quit or give up on myself. When I walked up those stairs that first day I was SCARED. I struggled with that first class and by the end of it, I was in tears and said I couldn’t do it. He told me to Keep coming back, because I could. As hard as it was, I did. As the “fat girl” all I wanted out of that class was to lose weight and look better. What I got was so much more. I went into that gym to work out, to lose that weight that I so badly needed to lose. So I could walk up and down the stairs like a normal person and not ONE STEP at a time pain in every joint in my body. Instead, I have now learned 5 different Martial arts systems and Self-defense. I now walk through a parking lot, a store, mall etc with my head on a swivel because I am more aware of my surroundings. I walk with pride because I am 60 pounds lighter than I was on day 1 of walking though that door. I walk around knowing that if someone was to come up and try to hurt me, I have the tools to protect myself. I work in a career where I tell people NO a lot. They can’t have what they feel they “need” or are “entitled” too. They get angry. I have had a client try to flip a desk on me, I have been screamed at, called names, and then some. It is scary being stuck in a room with people that feel helpless and can’t get what they need for themselves or their families with only one exit. I use to be able to hand them off to someone else when this happened.. now I am the one they get handed off to when the client is out of control. I am also the one at the end of my work day that stands in a room full of people that have been sitting around waiting to be seen for hours on end only to be told “sorry we can’t see you today” to a crowd of people who then decide they are going to crowd you and yell and scream and demand answers as to why this is happening. After my training with Coach Robb I feel safer knowing I have the skills and to keep myself Calm and safe if someone decides to react in a way that I need to defend myself or anyone else that may be with me during those times. I walked into that gym 7 years ago broken, hurting and Deep in depression. Today I am lighter stronger and now have a family that has my back. Coach Robb is not only a coach, but he is also a friend. A friend that will be there to help you with whatever you are going through. When you do that very first plank he cries with you, when you do that first push up he celebrates with you, when you earn that first belt he earns his all over again with you. Your wins are his wins. Your success is his success. He is the proud dad looking down at his child when you accomplish something. When he teaches you feel the excitement in the room. If you every have attended a seminar that Coach Robb has done, the room is full, It’s one of the most entertaining, informative Hours you can spend in your life. Coach Robb is one of a kind in so many ways. To know him is to love him. I for one would not be where I am in my life it wasn’t for finding him. I can’t thank him enough for bringing what he has into my life. Better, wiser, smaller, Stronger and harder to kill.

It was over a year ago when I first found Rob Buckland's Team Fearless on Facebook. I watched and I watched videos of his classes that were posted and I thought, man I would love to join. Then I thought, maybe I’m to old, maybe I won’t be able to keep up all those things your mind leads you believe you can’t do. So I continued to watch and finally sent a msg to join. My first class I was scared as heck driving there, I sat in the car and almost didn’t go in because I kept thinking I won’t be able to do it. I called my husband and he reassured me that I can do anything I set my mind to. I finally went in and the kids class was going on and that’s when I met Rob. When the kids class was over and the adults were starting I thought again to myself, oh my god can I do this?, am I doing the right thing? Fortunately I stayed and I did it! That was one of the toughest workouts I ever had. Throughout the class coach Rob would push us, but in a way that made sense. He made us all believe that we can do it and we’ll become stronger, healthier, leaner and feel great. That class was over and boy was it hard but I did it and as time went on I noticed it became easier, I got more flexible and I also looked forward to going to the next class and before i knew it I was part of the fearless family! My whole attitude changed,I was more confident and I really felt good physically and mentally. I went from barely being able to do a push up to just doing them and coach Rob would celebrate when you did. Coach Rob is awesome, he gives you the confidence to succeed and wants you to be able to defend yourself and not become a victim. I highly recommend Team Fearless to anyone, you will learn so much while getting in the best shape of your life.

I spent 40 years involved in a fitness environment and considered myself experienced and well informed. I joined Team fearless in the fall of 2022, after a 10 year break from working out regularly. I was about 25# overweight and nowhere near my previous fitness level (on top of now being 70+ years old) Meeting Coach Robb Buckland was “interesting.” Like his advertising states, he is “an acquired taste.” After taking and observing a few classes I began to see his commitment to each and every person in each and every class. While I was observing him, he was observing all of us. His knowledge of the skills he teaches combined with his knowledge of physical anatomy and his ability to work with each person at their individual level while cheering them on to improve make Robb Buckland an ideal coach. His leadership has created a team that is interactive and committed to supporting each other like family. I have a new understanding of my strengths and abilities since working with Team Fearless and Coach Buckland. I was listening to too many of my friends trying to convince me that my aches and pains and lack of energy was just the natural aging process and not that I had gained weight and stopped working out. Being back in a fitness environment where I felt accepted and valued and even loved was just what I needed. I quickly learned that age is not an indicator of ability. My fitness level and flexibility improved, my health improved and best of all I felt really good about myself. Further, the self-defense systems I learned have helped me to feel safe knowing I have the skills to protect myself. Although this wasn’t my original objective, it has become my favorite part of training at Team Fearless. I recommend Coach Robb Buckland, without reservation, for any and all of your self defense and fitness needs.

My journey with Team Fearless began when I was 5 months postpartum after my daughter was born. I came to Robb at a particularly challenging time in my personal life, when I was dealing with anxiety and insecurity and accepting the reality that I was going to be a single mom. I wasn’t happy with who I saw in the mirror, and the version of myself I longed to be seemed so far away. Like many of us, I was nervous to walk through the door, knowing full well that the journey ahead would be one of the most challenging things I’d ever do. When I finally pushed through all of the “what-ifs,”…Robb welcomed me and got to work helping me design personalized goals for my fitness and lifestyle. It didn’t take long to realize that I was amongst a special group of people who embraced me and wanted to help me stay accountable to my goals. I once struggled to stay motivated during workouts, but thanks to Robb's unique teaching style, I was now laughing my way through them. When I couldn’t find a babysitter for my daughter, he welcomed her in, read books to her, and helped keep her entertained so I could get a workout in. Even though I began with the goal of losing weight, I quickly developed a passion for martial arts and self-defense. Being a single mom in this crazy world, I realized that learning self-defense was paramount, just in case I ever needed it. Now, I enjoy learning the martial arts pieces even more than the fitness and am ascending through the belt ranks in karate, jujitsu, and kickboxing! Now, almost two years later, I’m a regular patron of Robb’s class, and going to the dojo is one of the highlights of my week. I know I can leave my worries at the door and focus on improving my physical fitness and tactical defense skills, and always go home feeling accomplished, healthier, and stronger. Beyond being my coach, Robb has become one of my most treasured friends. He supports me through the highs and lows of life, both on and off the mat. And thanks to him, my little girl gets to grow up watching her mom be stronger, more confident, healthy (and able to kick an ass or two if she ever needed to.) Joining Robb’s dojo was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made for myself. I would recommend his unique class to anyone who wants to level up in their life and do things they never thought they’d be able to do.

I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for Robb Buckland, a world-class martial artist, actor, stuntman, and an extraordinary mentor. For 34 years, I have had the privilege of training under his guidance, witnessing firsthand his mastery of martial arts and his dedication to teaching, empowering, and shaping students of all ages and skill levels. Robb Buckland is not only a highly skilled martial artist but also a true innovator in the field. As an ambassador, protector, and devoted teacher of heavyweight kickboxing legend Joe Lewis, he has carried forward the legacy of excellence, discipline, and strategic combat application. His approach seamlessly blends traditional and modern martial arts techniques, instilling confidence, resilience, and self-belief in his students—qualities that have personally helped me excel in law enforcement, private security, and executive protection. Beyond his professional expertise, Robb is a pillar of his community, demonstrating remarkable dedication despite overcoming his own health challenges. His commitment to mentorship goes beyond the dojo, shaping not only skilled martial artists but also strong individuals. As a father, teacher, and role model, he exemplifies integrity, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. I wholeheartedly recommend Robb Buckland for any opportunity that seeks a leader, mentor, or martial arts expert of the highest caliber. His contributions to the martial arts community and beyond are immeasurable, and I am grateful for the profound impact he has had on my life.
