Professor JP has competed at the highest levels and promotes the perfect environment to train safely from beginners to experienced practitioners. Professor Ryan's positive attitude enhances Agoge. I highly recommend anyone looking to train in the Annapolis/Baltimore area to come try a class.

I have been training with JP for 18 months. Even though this is a new school JP has been teaching in the area for years and has a loyal following of dedicated students. He is one of the best Black belts in the area. You will quickly see the difference between Agoge and other so called "Real Jiu Jitsu" schools in the area. The thing about BJJ is you can't fake it. JP is the most genuinely nice person I have ever met. He cares about all his students and I am glad to call him my friend. He has not only taught me jiu jitsu but he has made me a better person. He is a great teacher and has cultivated a great culture of friendship at the gym. Whatever your reason for starting BJJ I can assure you that you will have many new friends from all walks of life and you will never be the same, you will be better!

Agoge is a great place for kids. We knew this was the right spot for our kids to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from the first visit. Coaches JP and Ryan teach every kids class, showing great patience and positive attitudes. Their hard work shows great results in both the kids' technical improvement and in their character development. High level coaching, consistently. The kids class is not easy, and you wouldn't want it to be. These kids are learning how to handle physically and mentally challenging situations and excel under stress. At the same time JP keeps it fresh and fun. The kids don't get bored or discouraged. The Agoge kids are developing into lifelong learners by training to be Jiu-Jitsu fighters.

I have been training at Agoge since late 2019. JP is a world class bjj competitor. As a professor, he is patient and encouraging. The facilities are immaculate. JP and the Agoge team have fostered an atmosphere of teamwork and growth at his academy. Having trained at many other academies, I can say that the students at Agoge are willing to meet at your current level. When I started, I was overweight; they worked with me and have been cognitive of my injuries. Now that I am in better shape and have competiled. They help push you to grow while still being safe.
