About

B-More Jiu-Jitsu offers training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, with a coaching team led by owner and head instructor Nick Tissue, a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt. The gym provides specialized programs including the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Women Empowered curriculum, youth instruction, and advanced adult classes. Instructors range from certified women's program leaders to brown and blue belt practitioners, ensuring comprehensive guidance across all skill levels. Members appreciate the gym's focus on technical detail and practical self-defense while maintaining a 'keep it playful' mindset that significantly reduces injury risk compared to more competition-oriented environments. This approach allows hobbyists to train consistently and improve long-term in a welcoming space that feels judgment-free. The gym's private lessons serve as excellent introductions for newcomers, with families noting how instructors balance technique with fun and respect for younger students. Many members report growing confidence and camaraderie regardless of skill level, with the women's program receiving particular praise for making participants feel comfortable and confident even when stepping outside their comfort zones. The supportive atmosphere extends to youth programs, where instructors work patiently with toddlers and children, creating positive first experiences that often lead to immediate enrollment. Reviewers consistently highlight the gym's ability to meet students where they are, providing encouragement and kindness that transforms nervous beginners into committed members.

6 year old grandson had his first private lesson with Nick today. Grandson loved it and wanted to get his own attendance card right on the spot. The private lesson was a great way to get him familiar with the gym (new to him) and jiu- jitsu. Gift experiences, they have enough toys.

Instructors are great with toddlers and youth. Nick is excellent. He balances focus on technique with fun and respect. I have no doubt that all of the kids in this program are better each time they have a class.

I rarely do reviews but working with Nick,Alexis,Denise &Katie was such a positive experience l had too! They are very kind, patient, encouraging, and they really meet you where you are 100% judgment free! They really made me feel comfortable and confident with something that is way out of my comfort zone! Lol. So much so that I joined women empowered after attending one free training. Highly recommend!

I’ve been training here for three years and highly recommend it. Nick is a great instructor who focuses on technical detail and practical self-defense. The school’s 'keep it playful' mindset significantly lowers the risk of injury compared to more competition-oriented gyms, which allows you to train consistently as a hobbyist and improve long-term. If you're looking for a welcoming environment to learn BJJ, this is definitely the place.

So many families in our community recommended Baltimore Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. My 7YO needed a calm, welcoming space, and we found the perfect fit here. All instructors are incredibly kind and supportive, and they teach in a way that encourages camaraderie among students regardless of skill level. My son's confidence has grown immensely in just a couple of months. If you're on the fence, give it a try. This place is amazing!
