Both of my kids have been attending this martial arts school for almost a year, and they absolutely love it. The instructors are patient, professional, and great with kids. We’ve seen real growth in their confidence and discipline. Highly recommend.

My son is new to being a part of the Baltimore Marital Arts family. This is our first martial arts experience ever and I do not regret the decision to stand with Baltimore Martial Arts Academy. Mr. Garry and staff are amazing at keeping my son focused and interested. I see my son is growing and gaining higher levels of confidence that will benefit him at home and at school. The team is very attentive, respectful and encouraging when it comes to helping him come out of his shell. This so far is one of the best investments for my son's mental health and helping him form his identity. Thanks team ✨

The “owner” does not run the business directly, nor is he a black belt in conventional martial arts geared towards MMA. Despite the variety, I view it as best if you strictly do BJJ. You will refine plenty and drill basic maneuvers. I would have only taken two stars down, but they might claim certain areas you PAID for are off-limits, an advanced class might be a one-off thing (Muay Thai), your car might get wrecked by the senior instructors for god-knows-why, and the MMA coaches will fishhook, strangle, and otherwise gross-out anyone that doesn’t “make it easy” for someone who only fences or knows recent military training. Often a “black belt” in one discipline will be treated as a black belt in a completely unrelated martial art.

Read Me before you enroll: I joined the free trial classes, and the person at the front desk informed me that I would receive a $600 refund once I completed the trial period. After finishing the trial, I decided to continue; however, it was verbally agreed that, due to my travel plans and the possibility of missing classes for a month, I could cancel my membership at any time if needed. When I later requested the $600 security refund, the staff changed their position and claimed that since I had continued with paid classes, I was no longer eligible for a refund. Later, I received an email from Baltimore Academy acknowledging fraudulent payment activities by some of their staff members. After checking online reviews, I also discovered several similar complaints from other students describing misleading communication and a lack of transparency. Despite numerous attempts to contact the academy about canceling my membership, I was repeatedly told that I needed to visit in person to complete the cancellation. I explained that I had relocated to another state and had already submitted all the necessary documentation, yet my request was never processed. Now, after two months, a debt collection agency has started contacting me, demanding $2,400 for a full year’s payment, which is completely unfair and inconsistent with the verbal agreement made during enrollment. Additionally, I would like to report that one of the coaches attended class while under the influence of alcohol (on the day of his son’s graduation). He acknowledged this himself and asked if I was comfortable continuing the session. Although I didn’t raise a complaint at that moment, I later realized this was highly unprofessional and unacceptable behavior in a teaching environment. I would also like to share that a screenshot recently surfaced confirming fraudulent activities within the academy, leading management to send an email admitting the issue. I had raised similar concerns three months ago, explaining that the front-desk representative had provided conflicting information and later changed her statements, but at the time, the owner chose to support her instead of investigating. Only now, after exposure, have they acknowledged the fraud. I am currently receiving repeated calls from debt collectors, which has become extremely distressing and is taking a toll on my mental health.
