I’ve had the opportunity to visit martial arts schools across the country, and I can genuinely say that BETA Academy is among the very best. The level of instruction, the care given to each student, and the overall training environment are truly exceptional. Whether your goal is to learn authentic Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or challenge yourself to become stronger—physically and mentally—this is a place where real growth happens. Training here isn’t just about fitness or technique; it’s an investment in yourself, and one that can be genuinely life-changing.

I had my first class at Beta Academy DC today and it was an outstanding experience. As a complete beginner to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the instructors were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The class structure was excellent — we drilled techniques first and then rolled, which made it easier to learn without feeling overwhelmed. What stood out the most was the culture of the gym. Everyone was respectful, helpful, and willing to guide a newcomer. The instructors made sure I understood the mechanics and gave helpful feedback throughout class. You can tell this academy takes pride not only in high-level training but also in creating a positive environment for students of all levels. Day one and I was definitely humbled — but in the best way possible. Looking forward to continuing the journey here. Highly recommend Beta Academy DC to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I attended a Kudo (Japanese martial art) seminar hosted at BETA Academy, and the experience was excellent. The facility is top-notch. The place has spacious mats, a cage setup, and a ring setup, along with clean locker rooms and a shower. Everything felt professional and well maintained. The owner, Nakapan, is incredibly skilled yet very humble and kind. You can tell he genuinely cares about the art, the athletes, and the community. Even though I was there specifically for Kudo, it was clear that BETA Academy is a high quality MMA gym with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend checking this place out, whether for seminars or regular training.

I am just wrapping up my first year at this gym and have had an incredibly positive experience. Classmates and teammates were excellent and friendly. People are good at being welcoming and helping you understand and learn. The coaches are absolutely phenomenal and always seem happy to answer follow up questions or help me understand techniques better. The staff have been welcoming and helpful at solving problems. I had to take a month off after an injury and I was able to get a credit for a future month (I learned you can also freeze for a month but I didnt know that at the time). It felt good to have any billing/membership questions answered clearly and that I felt heard with my concerns. I look forward to continuing to train here in the new year (sadly after a little bit of time off).

Everyone is super friendly, Nakapan is highly skilled, i came in on the dot with no gi or equipment, he gave me a spare one to borrow. They have great techniques, learnt a lot, and its an amazing community of martial artists. Nothing negative to say, hope to see you guys again! Osu!
