Federal Hill Fitness
About
Federal Hill Fitness offers mixed martial arts and kickboxing training in Baltimore, supported by a large team of over 25 certified instructors and group fitness coaches. The facility provides a range of cardio and strength training equipment, clean locker rooms with quality shower amenities, and flexible workout spaces for members who prefer to design their own routines. Members appreciate the patient, helpful staff who are particularly supportive for those transitioning from a sedentary lifestyle to regular exercise. The gym maintains a tidy environment with management that responds quickly to billing or service issues when they arise. However, the space can feel small and crowded during peak hours, which may require strategic timing for those seeking a less busy experience. Some members note that the loud, constant house music can be distracting, even over personal headphones, and that barbell lifters may find equipment limitations, such as needing to bench and deadlift inside power racks due to space constraints. Membership requires a one-year contract with a 30-day cancellation processing period, which some reviewers describe as typical of gym industry practices. Overall, the gym delivers solid equipment and coaching in a clean, well-maintained setting, though space and noise levels may affect individual preferences. Early morning visits tend to offer a more spacious, relaxed atmosphere compared to busier times of day.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members praise the gym's clean facilities, quality equipment, and patient, helpful staff, especially noting the supportive environment for beginners. Many highlight the tidy locker rooms with good shower products and responsive management when issues arise. Common concerns include crowding during peak hours, loud repetitive house music that interferes with personal audio, and limited space for barbell lifting requiring use of power racks. Some mention contractual membership terms with lengthy cancellation processing as a drawback, though off-peak hours provide a better experience with more available equipment and space.

Clean, $89/mo with a good selection of cardio and strength training options. Staff is very patient if you're going from fully sedentary to learning to work out.

I only came for a few months before moving out of the area but I loved coming here. The gym and changing rooms were always clean and tidy and the atmosphere was great for working out. The mornings were never overly crowed and there are great flex spaces to do your own workouts apart from the equipment and weights if desired. When there was an issue with my billing the management was super quick to resolve it. All around a great gym.

Decent gym but small and crowded, and unfortunately participate in the typical predatory membership practices typical from other gyms. You have to lock in to a contract for an entire year and then when you want to cancel, you have to wait up to 30 days for them to process the cancellation

Good equipment at the gym, but it gets crowded during peak hours, making it hard to find a machine. Going early offers a better experience. Overall, it’s a decent gym with helpful staff and a good range of machines.

They have good equipment and it's usually pretty empty. The locker rooms are nice and the soap/shampoo/conditioner in the showers is actually pretty good stuff. The only downsides are 1) if you're into barbell lifting you're gonna have to bench and deadlift inside of a power rack, and there's pretty limited space so you gotta focus on not bumping into equipment during your lift. And 2) I hope you like house music because it is loud and it is constant. I hear it over my headphones so I can't even listen to my own music without hearing both songs at once. So every time I come here I have to stick to podcasts, with house music playing the background. (It's not even good house its like super repetitive minimalist house). Turn down the music and get a proper bench press and I'd give it 5 stars
