One of the few Starting Strength affiliates within the DMV. Top notch Rogue equipment and, in equal measure, top notch SS certified trainer, Jay, and owner, Emily. Highly recommended.

“I love going to the gym” is not a phrase I ever thought would enter my vocabulary, but this place is just that awesome! Emily is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about helping people get stronger, and it is evident throughout her gym. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging, and you will feel welcome and valued no matter what skill level you’re at. When you begin, the coaches really take the time to teach you how to lift properly and make sure you’re ready to move on before adding weight. After that, the format is open and you’re free to work at your own pace but you are never really lifting “alone.” There is always a coach nearby to watch your form and provide instruction. And they are amazing at it! It is clear that the coaches are genuinely interested in seeing you progress and succeed. Oh and the program works!!! So it’s pretty fun to do things you didn’t think you were capable of too :)

I've been a member at different gyms but this is by far the best. My wife started 5x3 first and then gave me a 6 month membership as a gift knowing I would like it. Emily (owner) and coaches are attentive, knowledgeable, they focus on technique and develop a program that fits best for you. While improving your strength, they also help injury recovery. The members range from their 20's to their 70's, all body types with experience to no experience. It's pretty inspiring to see a 74yr old man deadlift 2 1/2 times his weight, witness someone bounce back from an injury or see a dedicated mom-to-be still rocking it out. With so many ways to motivate you, it's a great gym atmosphere. Check it out, do it, be stronger!

I’m so lucky to have found this place and started my strength journey. Emily is the absolute best, it’s like having a personal trainer but better. Gym is low key and all the members are all shapes and sizes so there’s no pressure or intimidation. It’s almost meditative going there, not like most gyms where it’s just bros. It’s crazy how much stronger I’ve gotten in just three months. I feel totally different in everything, including my running. I was a little nervous dropping the $ for the membership, but I can confidently say it’s worth every penny. I go twice a week but if I had more time I’d be there every day. So lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Coach Emily and her team are absolutely amazing. When I first started, I found myself saying "I can't" partly due to past injuries and being discouraged by a former trainer who focused more on limitations than possibilities. With proper coaching, encouragement, and training tailored to me, I no longer say "I can't." Becoming a member was truly the best decision I’ve made for my health and confidence. Now, not only do I not say "I can't" anymore, but I’m lifting heavier than I ever thought possible. The progress has been incredible and my strength has increased. Joining Fivex3 was truly the best decision I’ve made for my health, strength, and confidence.
