I started training at SKA Boston as a white belt and am now a black belt, and it’s been an incredible journey. What I like about SKA is that it embodies very traditional Shotokan Karate with no frills, just authentic and disciplined practice. This practice will strengthen your body, mind, and spirit while teaching life lessons that go beyond the dojo. The seniors at SKA Boston dojo provide excellent guidance, helping everyone progress and grow. One of the highlights has been connecting with amazing people from other dojos across the country and internationally, and practicing at other dojos. We’re always excited to welcome new members, and I can’t recommend it enough!

I resumed my karate practice after a very long hiatus, starting again as a white belt with SKA Boston, and recently becoming a black belt. Through the guidance of my seniors, I gradually learned (and relearned) ways of moving and thinking about why certain ways are more effective than others. We are lucky to have many seniors who have been practicing for decades, and we have a wide age span of practitioners in our group. Our dojo is welcoming to all levels, and a great place to explore a traditional karate practice, while gaining discipline and confidence which can translate to many other areas of life.

Over the years I've had many opportunities to practice with members of the Boston dojo. What a strong group, both in terms of technique and spirit! You are all fortunate to be able to study under Johnson Chung, a true Shotokan paragon but also a humble and extremely kind person and generous teacher.

Experienced and dedicated instructors teach traditional Shotokan karate at this dojo of Shotokan Karate of America. Dojo members have different backgrounds and skill levels, but all share an honest attitude, strong mentality, and a desire to learn and understand their martial art. I train with Shotokan Karate of America, and when I am in town on business, I always try to make it to a practice at this dojo. Great group! If you're thinking about trying karate or trying a new dojo, I highly recommend visiting Boston Shotokan Karate Dojo. You will not be disappointed.
