My son started wrestling at the beginning of the school year. He has always been a very confident, rough and tough, outgoing, athletic kid. He doesn’t love to sit still and has struggled with paying attention at school and in social situations, and can be easily distracted by friends because he likes to have a good time. But deep down, he is such a good kid. I cannot thank the coaches at The Barn enough. Wrestling has helped him so much. I was hesitant to sign him up for something else on top of all the other sports our kids are involved in, but he instantly found a deep passion and love for wrestling. He is obsessed! With the guidance of these incredible coaches, he has learned to stay focused, be disciplined and respectful, and to have determination, and lasting friendships. It has even encouraged him to eat healthier — choosing fruits, protein, and veggies over candy and chips if it means he’ll do better at a tournament. I’m the type of mom who supports whatever my child enjoys, and I am so happy he found Smitty’s. I had no idea how much I would love watching him wrestle or how proud I would be.Im so grateful to be part of this community! #BarnTough

My son Mason has done a few sessions at the Barn. He went from the beginner session at 7 years old and moved to advanced in the same year. He had a tough time the first session but coaches Cam and Matt assured him that he was capable and that he had the toughness to train with this group and they helped him push through that first obstacle. As a parent, I love watching these kids grind it out and work hard. Cam and Matt put their heart and soul into this place and the kids learn respect and discipline right from the very start. I can’t recommend this place enough for beginners or advanced wrestlers.

Our family has had the pleasure of having all three of our sons participate in the Smitty’s Barn wrestling Beginner and Youth programs. Under Matt Smith’s leadership, our boys have not only improved their grappling skills, but their confidence has skyrocketed, their social skills improved, and their overall maturation has been immense. I highly recommend Smitty’s Barn wrestling program to any family or athlete interested in getting into the sport, or taking an existing wrestling background to the next level.

Smitty’s Wrestling Barn is built on grind, grit, heart, and hard work. My son had two sessions here when he first started wrestling, and I can confidently say he wouldn’t have fallen in love with the sport the way he did if it wasn’t for this gym. The energy, the culture, and the standard Matt—owner and head coach—sets inside that barn are second to none. Matt is passionate and intense in the best way. He brings out the best in every kid who walks through those doors. There’s no standing around or going through the motions—when you’re in the barn, you’re there to grind. Every session is tough, focused, and full of purpose. The barn isn’t just about learning wrestling—it’s about building toughness, discipline, and mental strength. These kids work with grit and heart every single time they hit the mat. And you can tell. When you see a barn kid at a tournament, you know. They’re relentless, they’re conditioned, and there’s never any quit. Their gas tanks are always empty by the end—because they leave it all out there. Unfortunately, my son’s in football season right now so the schedule doesn’t line up, but we’re already planning to be back in the winter. This place is more than a wrestling club—it’s a proving ground where iron sharpens iron. If you want your kid to truly understand the value of hard work, this is where it starts.
