My son has attended here for some time now, and absolutely loves it. Like any young boy he was attracted by being a karate master and being the best fighter but very soon his focus shifted to the belts. It is remarkable how his focus and goal-orientation has improved. The belts represent clearly-defined and achievable goals, and the classes define the steps he needs to master to attain them. Master Brad seems to have an infinite well of patience for young students and his assistant teachers excel at drilling his lessons.

I starting my 4.5 year old old hyper boy a few months ago and it has been a positive experience. Master Brad is really great with little kids making them feel welcome, little them have fun, and also helping them stay focused. I have seen my son's confidence and self control improve since starting.

I've been studying at Villari's of Somerville for 3 years now. At first I was worried about returning to karate after 20 years and with some physical disabilities, but it's been wonderful. Master Brad is great at helping shape the art to the student. Class is always fun, and the environment is very welcoming. I'm now a brown belt, and I've gone on to place in tournaments with my forms. The adult classes are definitely not your intense militaristic type of class; we learn a lot of practical techniques, but in general the vibe is pretty relaxed. We believe in hard work but also listening to your body. So if you want a lot of yelling and taking hard punches, this may not be the place for you, but if you want to learn a lot and hang out with a bunch of nice people in the process, you should visit Villari's of Somerville.

In my short 10 months of being at Villari’s Somerville, I've gained a remarkable boost in self-confidence and have shed a lot of my depression. I now truly believe in my ability to achieve my goals. The supportive environment, where everyone helps each other and feels like a family, has been a cornerstone of this transformation. Although I was initially hesitant to ask for help, the instructors provided guidance regardless, and their tough yet supportive approach has been invaluable. I set an ambitious goal for earning my Purple Belt, which once seemed too high, but I am on the verge of achieving it. “I can’t” is no longer part of my vocabulary. I've learned that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and I now hold my head high instead of looking at the ground. Age no longer intimidates me—I’m 54 years old and just getting started, and I no longer feel ashamed of my age

After doing yoga for 5-6 years, I wanted to try something new. After some googling, I stumbled on this convenient location, went in for a free trial class - and I've been coming here ever since. Master Brad is an amazing teacher, and he runs a fantastic operation for both children and adults. It is reasonably priced, especially in comparison to other studios in the area, and you definitely feel like you get your money's worth. The people that go here are open-minded and welcoming, regardless of your martial arts ability. The upper-level belts take the time to help out us lower-level folks. When I first started, all I really wanted was a good workout, and to learn to protect myself. In addition to getting that, there are also many psychological, emotional and personal benefits. You focus on mental growth in addition to physical growth. My confidence has shot through the roof in the past 8 months! To be fair, this is my only experience with a martial arts studio - but I don't want to go anywhere else.
