Gold’s Gym, under the leadership of the incomparable Mr. Don Larson, is nothing short of iconic—a first-class sanctuary for those serious about transformation. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by an atmosphere that feels more Venice Beach than Metro Detroit, a testament to Don’s raw, authentic vision. A true gentleman and powerhouse, Don is the last of a golden era—part mentor, part maestro—who has built two immaculate facilities in Warren and Taylor that blend old-school grit with modern accessibility. He lives and breathes the philosophy of “no intimidation,” but make no mistake: this is where wolves train. With a full boxing ring, a youth-focused program, and a culture rooted in real results, Don’s passion has changed lives in ways money can’t measure. Gold’s Gym is more than a place to lift—it's a place where character is forged, thanks to a man who leads with integrity and heart. Thank you, Mr. Larson—you’ve impacted me deeply, and I can’t wait to train again.

I’ve been lifting with Austin for a while now and I can honestly say he’s one of the best trainers out there. He really knows his stuff and makes every workout challenging but enjoyable. He’s patient, motivating, and always pushes me to get the most out of my sessions. I’ve seen real progress since training with him. Austin Kielbasa goes above and beyond — the gym is lucky to have him, and he definitely deserves a raise. Look at the before and after.

Pleasantly surprised! I was visiting from out of state and stopped in to get some cardio. Was not expecting much for a gym in the Detroit area, but found the place to be extremely clean and well kept. Locker room, sauna, and shower were likewise very clean. Lots of weights and machines to choose from, as well as a boxing ring and multiple punching bags which I have not seen at other Gold's locations. The owner was at the front desk during my visit and super friendly and personable. He didn't give me any problem whatever despite my membership being at another location. Highly recommend! Would definitely come here if I lived in the area.

I talked with the owners for for a free-day pass, and he was more than welcome to offer me ridiculous price compare to the competition all around! He was really polite and respectful! I highly recommend!

Visited to use the advertised “try it out for free” trial. At the desk, I was told the free trial only applies to local residents, even though this isn’t stated anywhere clearly online. My local friend was allowed in for free while I was told to pay, which felt like inconsistent enforcement of an unwritten rule. The fee was eventually waived, but the interaction was handled poorly. If there’s a residency requirement, it should be stated clearly in black and white.
