Budo is more than just martial arts. I appreciate Greater Detroit Budojuku's vision for their genuine pursuit of Budo. Greater Detroit Budojuku gives me the opportunities and guidance to diligently try to refine myself through Budo. Their priority and focus are on their students' growth and development, and they go the extra mile to support us for our progress and improvements. Best of all, Mr. Maeda, Mrs. Maeda, and Mr. Simion are genuinely great people. They treat us with sincerity and empathy, and teach us Budo with great patience and passion. I have known Mr. Maeda for over 20 years; however, I never knew that he is such a martial art expert that he is until I joined Greater Detroit Budojuku, because he is humble with a gentle demeanor as a genuine Budoka is.

I highly recommend Greater Detroit Budojuku! My son started Judo here as his first martial art experience, and he has learned so much in a short amount of time. He truly enjoys coming to class and training with the senseis and the other kids. If you're looking for a dojo that is professional and welcoming of all experience levels, look no further!

As a Judo student, I found this to be fantastic school with a true dedication to excellence through a traditional martial ethic. The instructors foster a community atmosphere where concern for your training partners' welfare and mutual growth are promoted as a foundation for subsequent personal advancement. Everyone that I have trained with at this school has a great appreciation for the beauty of these arts, and I can't speak highly enough of the programs that have been established here. I unfortunately had to leave for personal reasons, but I sincerely hope to practice here again in the future. Thank you Sensei Radu and Sensei Alex!

Excellent school! I am learning Aikido at the school and my sons are learning judo. Maeda-sensei for Aikido and both Radu and his son Alex teaching Judo are excellent and professional instructors. They have created an inclusive atmosphere where you feel welcomed and challenged at the same time. I highly recommend the Greater Detroit Budojuku for anyone looking to learn Aikido or Judo.
