reviewsWhat Members Say

Members consistently praise the family oriented atmosphere and quality instruction at Ridgeland Taekwondo, with multiple reviewers describing it as feeling like extended family. They highlight how instructors like Mr. Conway and Mr. Chris Shoemaker emphasize real life application of martial arts principles, focusing on behavior, character, and academics alongside physical training. Several members report significant improvements in their children's behavior and athletic development, with opportunities to compete in national and regional tournaments. We have been going here for almost 3 years now. As a Family. Our little boy goes to his class, then we do ours. And our son does his homework while waiting for us. We notice a big and good improvement on our sons behavior. Mr.Conway enforces and teaches the Tenets of Taekwondo, not just in class but in real life application too. Bahavior/Character/Academics. 🏆🥇It feels like extended Family. Mr.Conway also ensures Cleanliness and Sanitation in his Classroom. Our Family Highly Recommends Ridgeland Taekwondo. 🥋🥋🥋 ***2022 update*** Ridgeland Taekwondo brought out the athlete in us. We participated and competed in 2 Nationals and 1 Regional Tournament. Kids and Adults can sign up.💪🏼💪🏼 I'm 40+ years old And got these Medals☺️🥳🥳🥳

While looking for a way to improve my son's focus, gross motor skills, and all around athleticism, we tried talking with several instructors in martial arts classes. None were as open, receptive, and ready to give honest feedback as Mr. Chris Shoemaker, the current owner of Ridgeland Taekwondo. Now we've been in classes for almost 6 months and there are no regrets in the decision to put the journey in his hands. There is a tangible care given to each student in their progress by Mr. Shoemaker and his black belt instructors. If you're looking for a baby-sitting belt factory handing out participation trophies, you're going to become disenamoured by the process of hard work (but with plenty of fun... it should also be fun!), practice, and your child earning his or her place. But if you're looking to shape your child's future for the better with the discipline and sport of Taekwondo, you won't regret bringing your child to Ridgeland Tawkwondo.

When people have bad experiences, they often leave bad reviews. I wish I could play the video on this review. We had our 9 year old attending this place and noticed he did not have great patience with dealing with kids that are very active. I noticed several times of him threatening to put kids out if they wouldn't stop jumping around. He promised my child that he would get a stripe the week before. He did not give my son a reason of not giving him his stripe, so my son didn't know what to correct. He kept putting it off until the next day. By the end of the week, still no stripe. So we asked to meet with him. He didn't want us talking because he wanted to control the conversation. He then stated if we questioned him again, he would end our membership. So we said we can end it now. As I exit the office, he stated he felt sorry for our child. But I feel bad for any parent that doesn't stand up and fight for their child. The videos posted will show the instructor only working with two students. The other students were on their own. This was a daily thing.
